Edge w/ Attitude worth it?
I have simply read some reviews on this product, and I'm not looking to overpower my engine for performance but simply looking to upgrade my truck for better mpg's. Is this mod worth it simply for the monitoring available from it?

I like it, don't know what your truck is, but you can overpower the auto transmission. I like the gauges but, I am looking to use my attitude monitor differently and add a few analog gauges here very soon. IMHO I like the Edge J/A.

I loved mine, but I still had analog gauges, the edge was a little off from time to time, and it did not monitor trans temp, FP, or RP...
It was a good piece of gear. There are a few good ones used in the classifieds. Don't pay full price for them.

Yeah... that too.... I was not trying to bring that into the conversation...
And, if you want my honest opinion, after having the smarty, I would have never gotten the edge. It's a good product, do not get me wrong, but the smarty is much better.
It's what you want. The edge is not good for big power (600+), and it has safety features built in. It runs the EGT's a little warm when you turn it up.
Still not a bad box.

Edge is good if you keep it on the lower setings. just like Madhat said, it runs warm. Had mine for a week then got the smarty. 150* drop in egt's.

I had mine for 3yrs and almost 80,000 miles and zero issues with the truck. I upgraded my stock trans with a good torque converter and a decent VB, with a deep pan.... I did have the mp-8 on as a stack and used it only sometimes. I did also have analog gauges.
The edge made good power, did run a little warm and brutally warm with mp8, but I liked the adjust ability on the fly.
If you want to add a bit of power to a stock truck and stay reliable, this is a good box.
If you just want milage, stay stock.

Does anyone have a direct comparison between the Edge J/A and Banks? Granted Banks claims 126 hp while the Edge claims 100hp (Banks claims with airflow upgrades). So effectivly they seem to produce the same power, monitor almost identical data. Only real difference seems to be Edge having the cooldown timer. That and Banks seems to emphasize their safety features more than Edge does.

The 06 has a built in trans sensor that the edge will read off of.I get similar mileage on the tow setting as on stock.Pulling heavy at 23000 lbs gross and with oversized tires, the 40 hp/100 ft lbs is about it for egts in the mountains, really like the unit.
