It is a downloader and I believe the monitor plugs into the diagnostic port and reads from there..............
Also I think the ONLY under-the-hood wiring is an EGT probe...........................

If it reads from the diagnostic port it won't read accurately if there is any kind of "fooling" going on.

The Bullydog doesn't even begin to compare with the options that the Evolution has. Here are both of the lists for camparison. The BD does not really give (explain) all the peramiters like Edge does.
EVOLUTION:
ADVANCED TUNING
• Speedometer correction (corrects for trucks tire size)
• Adjustable speed limiter
PERFORMANCE TESTING
• 0-60 and Quarter mile performance tests with the drag strip Christmas tree lighting and reaction times
DATA STREAM
• Records 5 parameters for up to 60 seconds
• Viewable graph using available software
PIDS
The Evolution allows the user to view up to 4 PIDs at one time. There are 24 different PIDs to choose from. Below is a list and description of each:
• RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) – Engine speed.
• MPH (Miles Per Hour) – Note: Dash display may be +/-3 MPH off from the digital display due to mechanical differences in the spring, etc. used to control the gauge.
• ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) – Degrees F.
• LOAD (Engine Load) – Calculated engine Load
• GEAR (Current Gear) – Current gear.
• TFT (Trans Fluid Temperature) – Degrees F.
• BST (Boost Press) – PSI
• MAF (Mass Air Flow) – Grams Per Second
• IAT (Intake Air Temperature in manifold) – Degrees F.
• DFRP (Desired Fuel Rail Pressure) - PSI
• AFRP (Actual Fuel Rail Pressure) - PSI
• OSS (Output Shaft Speed) - RPM
• MAP (Manifold absolute Pressure) - kPa
• MIT (Main Injection Timing) - Degrees
• TQ (Engine Torque) – ft/lbs
• BAT (Battery voltage) - Volts
• CFR (Calculated Fuel Rate) – mm3
• VPOS (Turbo Vane Position) - %
• APP (Accelerator Pedal Position) - %
• IATT (Intake Air Temperature in intake tube) – Degrees F
• BARO (Barometric Pressure) - kPa
• FTMP (Fuel Temperature) - Degrees F
• DIDL (Desired Idle) - RPM
• EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) – Degrees F
Bully Dog PMT unit features:
* Down loader& In Cab monitor
* Adjustable on the fly performance levels
* Color Touch Screen
* Internet upgradeable
* Nitrous Interface and Propane Interface
* Multiple Mounting Positions
* Quick Release Cradle
* Interfaces with Customer PC
* Graphs and Upload Personalized Backgrounds
Safety Features
* Pyrometer De-fuel
* Transmission Temperature Protection
* Oil Temperature Protection
* Coolant Temperature Protection

Its not even released for the Dodge and I see post after post saying its not going to be accurate...........how the .... do you know? Do you have this unit installed in your vehicle? Have you compared the unit with a set of analog gauges side by side? didnt think so. Maybe it is garbage, I dont know, but facts would be nice. I think it has the potential to be a nice unit, gauge set and programmer all in 1 unit with the mount included. Good luck finding a USB port in your truck.

My bad.. Diagnostic port... Besides owning an outlook comparted to anaolog guages... Yep I've had them both. There is a difference!! Analog guages are hardwired into the source the odb port or USB port... is only a source to read from the diagnostics!... Sorry i am not a pro to give you your definated answer but it's common sense.
