I just picked up a Edge EZ last night going to install tommorow. The guy that had sold it to me said that when you take the truck in for warranty work take the Edge and boost elbow out. He said they had a guy in there not too long ago that had his warranty voided because of the boost elbow. Can this happen? Anyway going to install tommorow and do first Amsoil oil change.

I guess dealers are all different but I know the ones here would void your warranty. I installed mine but not before I repeated three times to myself --'I am my own warranty station'

I have heard they can tell if you've had a fueling box connected even if it's been removed.I'm sure others will chime in more technically apt than myself.
You'll love the Edge but it can cost to play ;D

Every fueling mod leaves traces in the PCM. Since the Edge EZ is not an authorized performance enhancement from DC they can deny warranty work on the powertrain.

The dealer wont know, as long as you remove the EZ and the Elbow, and mounting hardware (velcro, etc.).

None of the codes in the ECM or PCM are concrete proof of a fueling box being present.

Beware though, once you start modding it comes to a point where it will take a long to time to take your truck back to stock.
Its usually not worth the time.

Repeat after me: I am my own warranty station... It has been said many times. If you start bombing your truck, you need to be prepared to kiss your warranty goodbye. If you aren't willing to do this, keep it stock until your warranty is up, or you can't take it anymore being stock.

We just replaced a cummins in a customers truck whos "bomb" went off. Ran him over 10K for the repair. Food for thought! The last three Cummins engines we've replaced have had fueling mods done to them, however, none of these trucks were running gauges, and all were towing quite heavy.

I read alot of this "wait until warranty is up until you modify it".
I dont get it?

If it breaks for mods under warranty, or out of warranty. Cost to fix is going to be about the same.

I say modify it, you'll never turn back.

I appreciate the advice that everyone has stated. I always have to tweek or make something that already has power make more power. I also have a 2001 Honda CBR929RR that within the first 6 months I took it from 119 rear wheel horsepower to 143 rwhp. It has about every power mod than can be done without breaking into the motor. My Dodge will be doing very little if any heavy towing, maybe a boat in the future. Will the transmission hold up with the Edge. I am straight piped, but a 4" inch exhaust will be coming soon. That is going to be the limit until I get the truck payed down.

should hold for awhile but it really seems to just depend on the particular tranny. (i borrowed an EZ from a friend for about a month and mine started to slip)

even heard of some people's standing up to a comp w/pieced wire for a period of time

id say put it on, if the tranny starts to slip u can always just take it off

Depends on the dealer. Mine said they would honor the warranty with the Edge EZ. I went into the dealer for a new lift pump and after the work was done, the tech told me that the next time I bring it in for service, I didn't need to remove the Edge EZ. ;D I guess he spotted the velcro on the fuse box. :

My suggestion is to call up the service department and tell them you are thinking of buying an Edge EZ and ask if they will honor the warranty if you install it. Then you will know if you have to remove it or not.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting statement J Body. I was thinking about how many Cummins engines we've replaced at our dealership. We've done two in the last year, both of which had fueling devices installed along with a few other things. Those are interesting odd's. Of the thousands of Dodge/Cummins trucks we've sold over the years the only two we ever had to replace an engine in were moded.

While that is an interesting piece of data, there are a lot of variables. Of all the CTD's on the road, I wonder how many have been modded?
