I've already got the 275's installed and have a edge ez coming. Will the 2 of these combined be to much for my stock clutch? I'm upgrading it this spring or summer, but was worried about my stock clutch holding up till then. I don't tow or haul anything, so it doesn't get worked to hard, but I don't know how heavy this thing towed before I bought it with 74,000 on the clock. I've got 85,000 on it now. It did have a ball hitch in the bed, so I'm guessing its towed heavy a few times in its past.
Also, I've heard of a some guys with the HO's having problems with low rpm "pinging", I guess due to the added timing of the ez. Will this be a problem in mine since I switched to the SO pump? I wasn't sure if the HO pump adds more timing to begin with and thats why it "pings" or if its because of the slightly higher compression ratio pistons.

No, it will not be a problem with your stock clutch.
I had same setup last year on same truck of yours and was VERY happy with it, I tow heavy sometimes and still didn't have any problem with clutch.

I wish I could say same of the 5 speed clutch

Generally speaking most 6 spds can get by with one or the other but not both for very long............be prepared for the clutch sooner rather than later depending on your driving style.

I don't see why it won't be able to make it until this coming spring or summer before getting a clutch. The only advice I have is drive it like normal, don't try to punch it or you will be in the market for a clutch sooner than later.

Mine held just fine until I did a rolling left hand turn in 3rd gear........then punched it.....

Could smell the truck from 40 yards away the next day lol........


Up until that there were no issues, you should be fine driving it normal.

Edit: This was my old setup of the EZ and 275's....

It will last as long as you dont abuse it. I didnt stay easy on mine and it let go but it was my fault and knew it was coming But it lasted a good while.

sounds like I may have to change my driving style just a bit. I tend to shift early, like between 1500 and 2000rpms which drops my rpms down around 1200-1300 when I get back in it, so it kinda bogs it down just a bit till the turbo lights up again. sounds like that may be a bit to much for the stock clutch. Other than that, I don't really beat on it to much.

That will help too, take full advantage of the 6 speed and shift a little later.
I was watching a friend of mine while he was towing a boat with my 6 speed and he lugged it down too much then accelerated, there was a huge cloud of black smoke and behind it a IA State Patrol car, I thought he was going to arrest him....
