Edge Ez 1998.5 2000

I've recently purchased an EDGE EZ Module, brand new but not yet installed...
I have a stock truck now, can I add the EZ(and run it only on level 1)? or it is better wait having gauges..intake...exhaust..?
can I use the ATTITUDE monitor with the EZ (or it works only on the JUICE?)?
or other monitoring tools?

any help must be apprecciate!

Probably should get gauges id suggest quadzillas commander but a set of good analoge gauges are real nice too though. I would not worry about exhust and intake.

Some guys will chime in here pretty soon that have way more knowlege then i do.

Your can but I would put money on gauges first. An ez is only 60hp and 110 torque but your egt's can get toasty if your at altitude. Also you get the best timing on level 3 and that is where I can actually see some mileage increase, on level 1 there is still more power but no mileage gain for me.

Will not work with the EZ

Commander works with the EZ, and will even do defueling. Attitude doesn't work with the EZ. You might consider returning the EZ, and going with a combo package like an Adrenaline or Juice/Attitude if you're going to want more power down the road anyways.

An air filter would be nice, but an exhaust is not required.

You don't need gauges to run an EZ. Thats why its called an EZ. Just hook it up put it on the top setting and play. If you tow really heavy in high elevation, that box could get you into EGT trouble. If your fuel pressure is too low now, running the EZ for a week isn't going to make one hill a beans difference in injection pump life.

Just put it in, and add gauges when you can.

Heck, I ran a 120HP comp for almost a year without gauges. That 65HP ez is nothing.

I ran the Edge EZ (Superchips D-Box) for almost 3 months with no gauges. Bought gauges and found that EGT's never got above 950 and boost above 18. Glad I put the gauges in though, fuel pressure was at 5psi on WOT and 10 idle.

thanks again! I'll put it in when received! EZ can only work with the COMMANDER?
Essential gauges? 1. EGT 2. Fuel Press and 3. Turbo Boost ???
The boost pressure must be catch on the TURBO or on the INTAKE MANIFOLD? (I see stores sell BOOST BOLT for the intake..)

Many thanks and sorry for these simple questions but I'm new with diesel power...

Fill out your sig, but if you have an Auto I'd say in order of importance it goes fuel psi, egt, tranny temp, boost. If it's a manual scratch the tranny temp.

The EZ isn't "fully supported" by the commander but it IS a set of gauges by Quadzilla. It has an available adapter for the EZ so that if EGT's and the likes get out of control it will control defueling for you. It may or may not work the same with every box, I'm just relaying what I know it's supposed to do. Every box may be different. For the best answers you might be better off giving Quadzilla a call.

Oh, and the commander has all 4 of those gauges I listed.

Your order of gauges needs rearranging.
1. FUEL PRESSURE 2 & 3 what ever tickles your fancy.

Boost bolt is for increasing the bolt, which your EZ might come with. Boost gauge signal can come from the intake elbow.

Nope... a boost bolt is a bolt that replaces an intake bolt it's drilled and tapped so that you can hook a gauge to it, a boost elbow is the one that restricts the wastegate to increase turbo boost.

My bad! It was an early morning and I didn't get much sleep. He's right.

Boost ELBOW and a j-hook are for increasing boost. I misplaced boost with bolt in that original post too, so that just goes to show I needed more

No problem xtoyz17!great infos thanks! I install first a fuel pressure gauge, yes it's a safe mod for the VP44. I like Digital Monitors, I'll check with Quad BD and other if their product can work with my EZ...

Last thing: with the EZ on I'll see more smoke from the back? I love black smoke!
