Eaton Tranny.....
Ok heres a good one. Say that you could get you hands on an EATON medium duty tranny, a SAE bellhousing, starter, clutch, divorced t-case, and custom made driveshafts. And you had the ability, space, and an extra car to drive while the truck is in the shop. Will the flywheel bolt to the crankshaft or does the medium duty 5.9s have a different crankshaft. I do not have any of this nor do I have plans to perform this kind of swap. I was just wondering if it could be done.

I too have thought about this idea, not sure if your talking about say an ultrashift or some kind of manual eaton but i know the ultrashifts would involve converting your ISB electronics over to using j1708 or j1939 protocol to make it work. A manual wouldnt be as difficult but an auto would be lots of work, as for shaft sizes i havent a clue

I have an old 12 valve with no electronics so a manual would probally be the only option. If you use an SAE bellhousing, clutch, and flywheel than shaft size shouldn't matter.
