04.5 ..cant seem to get any better fuel economy. I have tried as much as I can. It is obviously big bucks, but I have a few gift cards that I have been sitting on that should take the sting out of it.

The dealer just did the bearings and ujoints under warranty (45k) miles, so I'm going to do this while the wound is still fresh..I figure its as a good time as any. Hopefully disassembly doesnt cause me to rent a car...lol

I will let you guys know how it goes..my biggest complaint is that so many aftermarket things claim one thing and do another. I do mostly around town driving and am hoping that any reduction drag in the driveline during start and stop is going to be the culprit. I dont see too much on any forums about ecomomy and free spin..but I am keeping my fingers crossed, bc3

My buddy's got the Dynaloc conversion(3/4" shorter hub) and together with his gearvendor has seen a 4 mpg highway increase. Probably a combination of the two is causing the increase.

my dyna-tracs have been on my truck just short of a year.(11 months) excellent product! but if you are doing it just for the mileage, you will be disappointed. i have picked up 1 mpg-1.5 mpg. an improvement, but nothing that will make you sing and dance! i redid my whole front end last summer and decided to add the dyna tracs for different reasons than a mileage increase- i did it for less maintenance,easier maintenance and cheaper replacement parts if necessary (like replacing a wheel bearing!)

At a 1mpg improvement thats 35 extra miles per tank, which is about $8 in savings, so at $1895 that will take 237 tanks of fuel to pay for itself... So at 500 miles a tank thats 120K miles... WOW.... I still want one for other reasons, like 2wd Lo.

2wd lo is fantastic, real bearings, no moving parts but only seen a little improvement in mpg

I really like my Dynatrac setup, it was part of a complete front end rebuild that really improved the truck's handling and made it serviceable. But I will tell you that I have not been able to measure the mileage difference. If you are only doing it for mileage you'll be disapointed. Do it to make the truck better in other ways.

And once you are in there the U joints and ball joints will probably need replacement too. So Plan on getting in deeper than just the hubs. It will be torn down anyway and if you don't do the extras you'll be back.

Once again, all the wild claims about mileage just don't prove out. If I did all the little things that people claim will add 1-2 mpg I'd be getting about 30 MPG.

Any other time I would agree with you and can't help laughing when I see someone with a truck on 35's or 37's and lifts around here claiming 20+mpg - just defies all logic. I've tried all the snake oil stuff too - additives, two stroke, syns - none of which helped. Don't know why your freespins didn't pick up any, maybe you done some overtorquing?? but I picked up a solid 2mpg with mine. Aside from smarty jr's +.5 mpg it's the only thing I've ever tried that worked and worked very well imo.

don't do it for MPG... do it for the fact that you don't have to rebuild the front end as often and because the truck drives/steers so much better!!!

Laugh at me, I can get 20 mpg with my 37's I never could before because of the low gearing of the G56

No the dynatrac kit does not come with the u joints so you might want to pick up some new ones before you start because I got stuck and ended up having to order them.

I thought they didn't want HD guys using the stub hub kit as its designed for lighter rigs.

Never been to the Dakota's is it real flat there? 20 MPG on 37's is pretty crazy!
