Dumb Question??
What is this excatly "Silencer-Ring Mod" I see it in peoples sigs, but when I do a search so many threads come up due to peoples sigs. So quick simple explaination please..

Surrounding the turbo impeller is a ring put in to reduce turbo noise... The silencer Mia is when they pull this ring out to improve the sound of the stock turbo.. No power is achieved by doing this.. I also saw your from southwest fl.. I grew up in boca raton...

Yeah, I live in South West Fl, I'm not a cracker, I'm a transplant from NorCal. well grew up there I was born in Wy. SWFL ain't nothin like NorCal. loved the Mts. Anyway thanks for the info on the Silencer ring mia, how much louder is it???

I took out mine and i love it its noticable sounds nice to me its easy to put back in if you think its to loud so go head just make sure no dirt falls into the turbo when you do it

Is the turbo without the silencer ring like Ford 6.0 loud, or somewhere inbetween? I can barely hear it on my 2006 CTD. My dad's 2007 6.0 PSD seems to whine at all times. I could go for something inbetween.
I read elsewhere that the stock turbo intake tube has a lot of noise dampening capability and restriction. I've been looking at using the cool tube silicon tubes with the factory air box. http://www.psmdiesel.com/cool_hose_dpp_3rd.php
I don't know if it's worth $149 shipped for the tube, but possible combined with the Amsoil air filter and some cold air ducting from the factory air box it should flow well without introducing more engine heat.

BroncoAZ, I am tryin to find the same thing out, how loud, I have a Volant CAI and trq tube on mine and I can here the turbo just fine on the hwy. In town not so bad. If you want a trq tube I have an AFE I just took off 50 bucks + S&H and it's yours.
