Dual Disc South Bend Clutch Won't Realease!
I bought a South Bend 3250 Dual disc clutch from an individual. It will not release all the way. I purchased the heavy duty hyd. clutch system from South Bend and no help. The slave rod doesn't seem long enough to release all the way. Any suggestions?

Busa, I used the flywheel that came with it and it has the replaceable button pads installed instead of machining. The slave rod is non adjustable where as the master rod is adjustable and it mainly moves the clutch pedal closer to you. The slave rod sure needs to be adjustable. Thanks

Just curios, but what exactly do you mean by it wont release. I bought a new dd clutch from Kenny's pullin parts and from nuetral, it would not go into gear worth a hoot. Sent it back to him and he machined the floater to give more release room. This helped but did not fix. Truck would go into gear but would start to move truck. I then added SBC hydro and still didn't fix it. It turned out to be one that the springs were wrong and coil binding and that the friction disc were not true causing drag. This might be your issue.

Did you remove the washer on the clutch release fork pivot ball stud? Try adjusting the clutch pedal rod where it attaches to the clutch pedal. Then you could take the slave cylinder out of the bellhousing & remove the spacer on the slave to give you some more pedal.

You don't have one or both of the clutch discs in backwards do you? If you would get them in backwards, the disc hub could make contact with the flywheel or pressure plate, not allowing the clutch to fully release.

Guys, I have tried everything. Talked with SBC and went ahead and pulled the clutch and everything was in correct. I am taking it up to SBC tommorrow and let them go through it. I am at a lost. I will let you all know what I find out or what I decided to do. Thanks, Bill

Have no fear....Peter has an OUTSTANDING reputation in the Diesel performance business because he earned it, one clutch at a time and one customer at a time.
