DTT valve body by itself?
I am thinking about installing a DTT v.b. set up for towing. The rest of the trany is stock. Will this be a problem? I was looking at the v.b. info on their site and it sounds like I will get many benefits from doing this. Is there a down side that I am not seeing. I have had no problems with my trans. at all and I have 68k on it. I dont want to rebuild a perfectly good trans. till it is needed. I am pushing 250-260 hp now and I just want to give it a little help. The tc clutch has never slipped yet so I want to do this before it does.

I would look at replacing the torque converter also. Mine was not slipping at lock-up but the stock converter stalls too much and causes a lot of torque loss. I got a PRO-TORQUE converter from Jannette Racing for $695 + core. I also got a BD valve body. DTT and BD do the same thing up the line pressures. It was a differance in night and day. My trucks responce is from idle to 2400 now.

If there is not too many miles on the trans( you didn't tell us what you are driving and the age ) the trans will love a converter and valvebody.
The two most common issues with these are low line pressure and a junk factory converter.
Call Dtt and ask this question from them!! Great people.

Spend a little more time on dtt's web site. Bill will answer most of your questions on post that have been started by others.
I only had 18,000 miles on my stock tranny & was already having issues. I got the full upgrade last Dec. & have not regreted it one bit. I've never liked a bandade approach. Do it right the first time & you'll be money ahead.

I had a 97 auto and put a DTT valve body in it for just the same reason, just as precaution. I didn't have any problems with my tranny before I got it installed. I could tell the difference, shifted firmer and atshifted at higher rpms into lockup. It help me feel a little better about the auto, but I always wished that I had got a tc also. I would say get it done right the first time so that you will never have to worry about it agian.

I wold be good insurance but if you don't know how much longer the tranny will last what is the use of putting it in. I put mine in because when I bought it from the dealer they said they had rebuilt the tranny, only had about 30,000 on rebuild when I got it put in. I am not trying to say that it isn't good insurance but if you don't know what the tranny it like and with the horsepower that you are running it probably wouldn't take long for it to go. These are just my thoughts though.

I recently installed a Suncoast VB @ 85 K miles...
Man it makes a serious difference...and I don't have to worry so much about eating up the clutches.
Basically I could not afford the TC right now.....and I was getting some really soft shifts.
Now...it shifts HARD and FIRM and Holds gear well....
I don't regret this at all....and a TC will be my next mod when I can afford it.
THEN LET THE FUELING BEGIN !!!

I have a BD valve body in my stock '96 AT. I have towed my 10K lb. 5er all over the West without AT problems. I would assume the DTT is of comparable quality and will function well also. I also installed a BD HD torque convertor(stall speed=1,600rpm), what a rush! The TC makes a huge difference in AT performance. The stock TC (same for V10 and CTD) has a stall speed of 2,300rpm, way to high to utilize the Cummins awesome torque to its fullest.
