drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

the boss got a new 350 crew cab 4x4 auto PSD a few weeks ago and monday i finally got to drive it! it gets up and goes for having a utility bed on and full of tools! but it still lack the brut strangth of our CTD!!! it feels like the truck is more for speed or top end then pulling or getting out of the hole! at work we have 2 350 crew cab 4x4 7.3 psd 00,01 that is like night and day between the 2! and a 01 cheby duramax! that one to still doesnt have the low power like the CTD! i have tried and tried for 5 years now to get a dodge with a CTD but no they still wont do it! they had one and beat the crap out of it and it broke all the time so i think thats y they dont want to get one. ill still keep my CTD over any of the others!!!

Re:drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

I get 18-20 mpg on the highway. When towing a 1 1/2 ton trailer through the Hill Country we get 16-17mpg doing 75mph. I think thats pretty good. 8) Thats in the Excursion. When we drove to New York we got 27mpg doing 73mph.

Re:drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

Before I bought my truck I looked very close at the PSD. I was also pretty impressed with the power (thats what sold me on a diesel), I also was a owner of an f-150 that ran awsome and never had a problem. I ended up buying the Dodge because 1. I could not locate one with a 6spd, and 2. I read all of the problems that the owners were having with the 6.0. I also liked the interior on the Dodge better.
Ohh and 3. It seams cheaper in the long run to get more power out of the Dodge. ;D

Re:drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

i would have to agree with jack on the cool sound. at WOT taking off it sounds pretty kewl. but so does mine and its way louder! ;D i was think if i just got the comp i could be just as fast as the 6.0 if not faster! plus the cummins is proven and the 6.0 psd isnt so far. but im sure it will be fine after some bugs r worked out! so now at work we have 03,01,and 00 fords and an 01 chevy duramax! im really going to push for a dodge this time when they get a new one!!! i think i will drag the bosses to the dodge dealer and make them drive it!! ;D

Re:drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

I've had many Fords they have been good truck. I probably would be driving a F250 now IF they had a reliable 6.0 engine and a 6spd tranny available when I bought mine. Always liked the Cummins just was not a fan of the truck. This '03 has changed my mind. It is a very nice truck. And I love the engine.

I drove a F-450 6.0/TS a couple weeks ago. It ran good on the top end, like a Dmax, but the low end grunt of the cummer wasnt there. :

Re:drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

Just yesterday, I had a friendly race with a buddy that has an 03 6.0l PSD. Our trucks are about the same: SWB quad except his is an auto and 4x4 while mine is a 6-spd 4x2. First race was not pretty. I got beat by about 3 lentghs 2nd race I plugged in an EZ box and beat him by 1. He about s**t when I pulled him Was nice to see the real world difference of the box other than the feel of the power ;D

Gotta give it to Ford, the 6L PSD is no slo poke

Just the addition of a box is all it will take to get the 6.0 up to 390 to 400 hp. Be careful, because it's difficult to get those kind of numbers of of any CTD with just the addition of a box.

Re:drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

The 6.0 is already having reports of detonating internals with a 100hp box and propane. The Cummins is just far stronger in all internal components. If I had 6.0 I wouldn't dare add a single performance piece.

The ISBe can easily push it's numbers safely past where the 6.0 starts and further overall.

Re:drove a 6.0 PSD the other day

I've not heard of any stock CTDs getting 305 hp at the wheels, let alone 405 hp with the addition of a box. Watch out for the Edge equipped 6.0s, they'll be fast.
