Dropped off truck and service rep is clueless
I dropped off my truck about an hour ago to get the ABS module recall done and thought I would get some other things done too. I told him about the accesories staying on like the radio and windows after shutting off the key and he said my truck doesn't have that option. He also had no clue about the high idle using cruise control. I asked him if he could check the calibration of the speedo since I have the different wheels/tires on too and he said the only way they do that is my driving it and using the mile markers. He said the scan tool won't do it. Can you guys tell me if he's right about any of that and/or give me some pointers on what to say to him to make him understand? Thanks for any help.

What a dummy, and he's at the dealer, ill stay away from them. Any Dealer can fix all that stuff they can do the high idle thing and recalibrate your speedo, if they cant iw ould find another dealer, but first talk to one of the mechanics, they will know for sure, a good service rep will ahve some kind of mechanical know how to fix your problems, he sound like a desk jockey.

I hope for your sake, and that of your truck, that the mechanic has more clues regarding your questions/needs than the service writer. Leave you with a not-so warm and fuzzy feeling, eh? My service guy has learned a lot from me as I had the same encountering experience the first time there. Now, I take along all kinds of relative info - copies of recalls, tsb's, and info from sites like this when I take the truck in for something. Actually, all I will let them do now is what DODGE pays for, everything else I am doing myself for the same OBVIOUS reasons.
I think I am just going to get my own scan/comp setting stuff and do all that stuff myself too. It seems that most all the things we would like to turn on/off get figured out or explained by someone on a website, so other than warranty repairs why bother with them?

Yes. I just had both the high idle and radio options turned on in my truck last week. They have to use the Star scan tool, not the scanner that is used on the 05's and older. Although I am not sure you can even plug the older style scanner into the 06.
Regardless, it is very simple to do once the technician gets his head out of... well you know. It's like selecting what options to install when you are installing some types of software. Once you are on the menu, you can pick and choose which options you want turned on or off.

Hoyte in Sherman is a little too far. I've dealt with them a few times and they are pretty good about listening when I ask or tell them something.
Back a long time ago, when my truck was new, every time I went back for a TSB or flash, I always printed it out and took it with me so they could see what I was talking about and not give me a bunch of BS. Might be worth a try.

I took my 06 in for the radio/window power and the high idle this morning.
they just called me to ask if I want the radio to stay on for 45sec, 5 min, or 15 min. so it looks like it possible. BTW I chose 5 min's.

Well I got it back today with the high idle enabled, but they didn't get the radio/windows thing taken care of. I talked to the service manager and he said that he is going to look into it personally. I told him I know people (you guys) that have had it enabled in their trucks. He is supposed to be getting back to me. Maybe I should give him the link to this website so he can learn some more.
