Driveshaft help

Ok. Feeling like a tard here...

Trying to remove the rear driveshaft on my '03. I'm getting new u-joints, and I am having the driveshaft reballanced at a local shop to see if that will clear up some of the driveline vibrations.

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the rear driveshaft up near the transfer case. Does it just pull out of the transfer case? Never worked on this truck's driveline before, and have never seen a setup like this before either.

Yeah, IIRC there are splines that couple it to the transfer case. Just pulls out once you've unbolted the axle end and the bracket.

Will I need to wory about AFT leakage, or are the splines sealed?

No ATF leak, if so you have a bad seal.

Thanks. I try and remove that thing tomorrow. Wouldn't doubt I have a bad seal though, every freakin' thing else on that tranny leaks like screen door in a hurricane.

Not sure about the auto trans but removing the drive shaft from a manual trans will allow the trans oil to leak out. I would assume an auto would be the same.
