my drivers side window likes to work sometimes and not others. it will always go down but then sometimes it might not come back up. so i leave it stick up about 1/2 an inch. so if it doesnt' come back up i tap the window down and then it will. and i could have it go down and have 6 inches sticking up and it might not go down or up again unless i tap the window.

what cause this??

A few things could "cause" this. The most common would be that your switch is on it's way out. Often if you operate it in a "hard" fashion back and forth they will start to work again.....but for how long. The other thing that comes to mind is that the brushes in the power window motor are getting dirty and not making proper contact. You can usually pinpoint that by holding the switch in the up/down position and "slap" the door panel. If the brushes are worn/dirty often the "slap" will create enough of a jolt to make contact and the window will operate.

almost forgot. one time my sister drove the truck and put the window all the way down. and even bangin on the door and everything we couldn't get it back up. we had to take the panel off and pry the motor up a little to make it work.
