Driveline shudder....GONE!
I rubbed together the feet of a freshly sacrificed chicken and cast its bones on the table before taking my truck in for service this morning. It worked! They actually fixed the launch shudder I was experiencing. They installed a half inch shim lowering my carrier. It feels like a new truck.
Interesting...is that shim tapered to "tip" the axle up or down?

Re:Driveline shudder....GONE!
I have to assume that they fixed your driveline angle so it's more like this.
Now if you have a CV shaft your angle should be like this.

But duallys have a two piece driveshaft with a center carrier bearing.
Same basic theory, just add a coupla more u-joints.

I see you have a 4x4. Do not know about the front assembly - - are you saying the rear shaft carrier?
HHMMMMM, maybe? ??? ??? I will know about the clutch change out on Tuesday - - have to hook up.
I am not happy with the new clutch at all. It now shudders as it engages in 2nd or reverse. Not much, but I remember Sierra Phil's problems. Hope it doesn't get like that.

Re:Driveline shudder....GONE!
I guess I'd call it the rear carrier.
For those wanting to know more specifics, the dealer took measurements of the carrier base that's bolted to the bottom of the truck. It's not a very large piece at all. A local machine shop took flat (not tapered) half inch stock, cut it to the measurements and drilled two holes to accomodate the bolts. Longer bolts are needed. Factory bolts ended up being...you guessed it, a half inch too short. This is such an easy fix. It would cost Dodge 50 cents to make this a factory fix and would reap huge dividends with customers who have been complaining of this.

I guess I'd call it the rear carrier.
What most consider a rear carrier is a Rear differential carrier which is the center section of the the axle housing. Changing the angle there would require two pieces for under each spring. What you describe sounds like they changed the angle of the driveline by lowering the center driveline carrier. That fix would apply for long bed models with a two piece driveline. Glad to here you got rid of that shudder.
My trucks rear will shudder on take of sometimes, especially when taking of in a turn and I believe it is from the posi. DC does not recommend any friction modifier for posi's on the 2500 & 3500's only the 1500's so I may have to just live with it.

Re:Driveline shudder....GONE!
Matt, what you described is exactly correct. Long bed, two piece shaft, lowered to change angle at center driveline carrier.

Re:Driveline shudder....GONE!
Yes the angle would change but it would be a lesser degree angle with a load.
Too great a degree angle can cause the driveline to bind or whip causing "shudder".

Re:Driveline shudder....GONE!
I took my truck in a while ago, and they diagnosed my shudder as pinion angle, (my truck shudders loaded) and they said they could shim it, but then it would shudder unloaded. Hmmm, I might have to get a second opinion about this...CC.

Re:Driveline shudder....GONE!
I took a print out of this thread into my dealer yesterday. HHMMMM. They keep wondering why we hear about this stuff before they do. 8) He immediately placed a call into DC to get them on it. I will see what they have come up with when I get back from our trip the end of September. Hopefully I will still have a driveshaft in place when I return. ???
They are also trying to track down the buzzing/rattling at low rpms in gear. I offered to hang the mechanic under the truck with his stethoscope while I drove it. The service tech thought it funny - - I don't think the mechanic would. Hope they come up with answers - - luv my truck except for this clutch/shudder/buzzing stuff.

Re:Driveline shudder....GONE!
Mark, I can snap a pic. How do I post it?
This is definitely an easy fix. It boggles the mind that Dodge is taking so long to act on it. One of their engineers could use this as resume' fodder...
