Drive Pressure

Drive pressure is what actually destroys head gaskets, am I right?
I've also heard that boost pressure and drive pressure should be 1 to 1. So if your @ 1 to 1, what would be the safe upper limit of boost with a stock head gaskets and bolts? Where would you plug into to find drive pressure? I hope these are not dumb questions.

Thanks

Pull your pyrometer probe temporarily.

1:1 is unusually good. Be happy if you can keep it under 1.5:1.

Drive pressure does not kill head gaskets, peak cylinder pressure kills head gaskets.

Try to keep your boost to 40 psi.

the smaller the turbo ,the more it chokes the engine ,which raises drive pressure

as dave said drive pressure isnt the problem w/ headgasket failure. a combo of hi boost+ advanced timing+ 17 to 20 yr old h.g. or any one of these is more often cause. smaller turbo is not neccecarily the problem either- keep turbo in its effeciency map its ok. hi drive pressure dooes sap power on top end.
