Drive before you buy!

I just lemon-lawed my 03 and I'm sure it's for sale now (I settled with DC before we went to "court" so I don't even think it will show up as a lemon on carfax). fyi - this was for the 70mph vibe.

I see a lot of people looking at used trucks (which are usually all excellent buys!). Just do yourself a favor and make sure you do more than "take it around the block" before signing anything. I made that mistake with a new truck and it took over a year to correct.

Keep in mind some people are more picky about their vehicles than others. What might be lemon law material to some may not be to others. These trucks can be a great deal to the right person.

Keep in mind that if more people lemon lawed there vehicles back to the manufacture's, it will improve quality over time, as they will finally figure out that people aren't going to tolerate poor engineering and build specs for the money we pay.I think that in general, people who have complaints such as vibe issues are generally mechanically inclined and realize what this equates to over an extended period of time and usually plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time.Don't settle for less than what you paid for.

if you settled out of court and there was no buyback the title is not affected and no one will ever know.

Yeah that lemon law arguement seems to really have worked well for the people driving 6.0 powerstrokes.
I'd suspect people that are mechanically inclined would purchase a four dollar shim and attempt to repair the driveline vibration themselves. Usually people that are not mechanically knowledgeable will not find a fix.

LOL, what an assumption...here's a short list from memory..

1- All new driveshafts, custom balanced
2- Compression balance all tires on truck
3- re-hang exhaust to change it's natural frequency
4- DC Field engineer calculated correct carrier bearing angle for my truck and custom ground a shim
5- R&R's engine/tranny mounts and insured there was no binding on a mount
6- DC Field engineer calculated correct pinion angles and adjusted

That's all I can remember off hand. The dealer and DC did everything they could do (short of replacing transmission,transfer case, etc..).


It's a free country (for a little while longer, anway). Buy and drive what you want, just don't do it in that order

Yep, that's why I'm suggesting before you buy something, at least take it out on a drive that's more than around the block. 20 min now can save a world of problems later..

Ha ha #4 and #6. There's your problem. You had an "engineer" involved.

Do you actually think that the buy back process will work overnight for the 6.0 Ford's, they've only been out since 03, it does take time to work these issues out.Sounds like you may have some experience doing some warranty work on your own truck or maybe all you do is drive it and ignore the issues I'm sure Dodge wishes we would all do our own warranty work and save them the trouble and I'm also sure there are a lot of people on this site that are capable of this but smart enough to make Dodge stand up and repair these issues

Not to get off track here but the 6.0 has been out since '03. How many model years should it take?
My truck has not needed any warranty work other than a cruise control flash.
