draincock

I tried to drain some antifreeze from the draincock at the bottom of the rad and nothing happened.I want to change the thermostat.This seems pretty basic ,cap off rad turn draincock what else?

I don't recall if it is a simple half turn drain or turn till it starts to come out kinda fitting, also make it easier to do if ya loosen the radiator cap after it is cool to the touch of course.

I think after turn you have to pull out on it to drain.

I have changed mine several times and I NEVER drain the radiator. You really don't lose much antifreeze if you just remove the bolts and quickly pop the neck off and switch the thermostats and get the cap back on.

You have to turn it a little, then as you turn pull out on it. Here is a picture of the valve, it should help you understand a little easier.



Oh BTW, before you drain any, go buy a new valve, these have a nasty habit of not sealing up properly once opened. Here is the part number....
