Dppi Tube

The torque tube that DPPI sells is for the afe intake, can I use it without the intake using just the stock intake, I just want more turbo whine for now, xor will I have to modify the tube?

I don't think that will work. Maybe Mark will chime in on this one.

Have you removed the silencer ring off of your turbo? I would think your 04.5 would have one, but maybe not. That is what most guys do for more whine. Do a search on "silencer ring", there were quite a few posts regarding it's location and removal.

The DPPI intake tube should work with a stock intake box...since a stock intake tube works with the AFE intake. Follow the logic?

You can trim and slighty bend that tube anyways.

Torque Tube

Graphite600,

The Torque Tube will fit the stock air box as well as the 2003+ Stage I Pro Guard intake systems.

Well that figures...I was going to get a torque tube, but emailed AFE first to make sure it would work with the stock air box. They said the Torque Tube would not work with the stock air box. cquestad's logic, however, makes perfect sense, so I believe him and Mark, which means I may have to get one now. I guess AFE was trying to sale their proguard filter system with the TT.

Does the AFE TT really make a noticable positive difference? I've read in other posts that the stock tube is better than the AFE TT due to reduced air flow turbulance. Is that true?

Whoops...I just now realized DPPI has their own version of the torque tube (that's what I get for skimming;-)...the DPPI "Cool Hose." Looks very cool indeed...

Looks like it should flow even better than the AFE TT as there are no joints, just one piece.

Hey Mark,

How much air does the DPPI cool hose flow compared to stock and how does the turbo sound with it?
Thanks, Wetspirit

Some say you loose a little down low but flow better up top. Who knows...I could tell any difference with mine. I do like that is is not as massive as the OEM baffle set up. Leaves more space for my hands to reack my other mods...

I think the best would be a TUBE and a TAG...

You could save yourself some money and just remove the vanes inside the stock air tube if you are just wanting more turbo whine. The vanes inside the stock tube are what quiets the turbo noise down a lot, well that and the stock muffler.
