DPP 4" alum. installed
Installed my 4" DPP today. Really nice exhaust, good instructions, easy fit. Removing the old one was a piece of cake, it had almost rusted off-threatened it with the saw and off it was.
The interior of the truck is less noisy now, but the outside it's a good bit louder. Still manageable as long as you stay off the throttle. Stomp on it at low rpm and it's getting rude. Actually the sound inside the cab is much more pleasant than before while travelling between 75 and 100 mph.

Glad it is not louder than expected. When I first installed my 4" (Jannetty exhaust) I did not like the sound at all. Too loud and deep. If you drove by a fence or something it was really loud.
Off it went and on went a WALKER muffler....all fixed.
Wish I could have stowed away in that box with the exhaust

Well, Don, I i know I shouldn't say this in public places.... but it could be that we need parts for a [sub]duramax[/sub] soon. Another box-another opportunity.
I will have to watch my habits closely, maybe there will be the need for an extra muffler, maybe I'll just learn not to step on it that much in town.

Mark,
Another positive...the packaging is really nice, top quality. It could go through even the worst UPS hub and truck facility and still survive. LOL

Yep, the packaging was nice- the pipes had only 2 dings in them on the respective ends, seems that customs had the stuff unpacked and let drop some of it.
I shortened the 5" tip a bit by sliding it inwards, had to make a small cushion to be able to tighten it there- wouldn't want people to trip over my exhaust ;D
Fitment was really a piece of cake- I had to re-bend one hanger about 3/4" but I since it was on one of the dinged pipes I think it may safely be accounted towards the customs officers. Other than that mounting the system is so easy it can be considered almost boring- setting aside the curiosity for the first startup to hear the new sound
The mounting instructions are clear and the drawing is good. The hint about the tailpipe prone to swing towards the body is good, on mine the old exhaust exited straight back, so this part was rather nasty to remove. Good part was that I could bend the old pipe with bare hands to get it out... it seems to have been time for a new one.
I think it will make me save fuel, simply because I can't drive that crazy in the city due to the sound.
The baffles in the old silencer had already torn loose making much noise and restricting exhaust massively. Also the pipe was already welded in nine places and had holes in dozens of other places. Hence it was enough just to threaten it with a saw.
Bad thing is that I didn't find the time to do the gauges and injectors yet.

Don,
Hey you'd be surprised at what UPS has damaged even with the foam bags packaging etc. We have had to upgrade three times trying to eliminate damages etc. We appreciate the compliments though, enjoy it.

Alpine Ram,
Yep I imagine it was customs, we have had it happen before and it has been the way they DIDN'T repack the parts for their final destination. Glad you were able to fix it up and enjoy it, have fun!

Re:DPP 4" alum. installed
Alpine it sounds like you are real happy with your new system. I had a 4 inch with a magna flow installed a while back and like it for sound etc. The only place on the throtle that is loud inside is at 2k rpms.I am going to have to change out the muf or put in some sound deadening . I really like how it sounds outside though. ;D
