Down Pipe?
If the Banks downpipe is the same one in the Monster Exhaust, it fits great. I just installed the whole system last night and couldn't believe how good the downpipe and the rest of the ystem fit.

Did you guys with the Banks DP use the little gasket provided and the stock V-clamp or did you go with a smaller v-clamp, requiring no gasket. I have had a hard time keeping a seal with mine at the turbine outlet. When it works its way loose, it generates a real funky howl. I can tighten it up and it will be fine for a while, but eventually start working its way loose somehow and start howling again. Drives me nuts. I have tried different clamps, different gaskets, nothing seems to work. I ordered 4 new gaskets from Banks (should be here this week) and a new stock V-clamp from Cummins in an effort to get this to seal permanently, doubling up on gaskets if I need to. We shall see. I have had this down pipe on three different turbos, to include the stock turbo, and this has been an ongoing problem regardless of the turbo it has been mounted to. What did you guys do? Any problems like this?
I used the gasket and clamp with the kit but it has only been on for about 18hrs and 25 miles so maybe it will work loose. Mine turbo sounds alot different and I checked for leaks a couple times and seems fine. I wish I knew better what kind of sound you are hearing. Can you actually feel the exhaust leak?
Yeah, I can feel it, but it is ever so slight. Usually starts to leak at the top of the turbo, over next to the engine. The howl kind of sounds like the howl you get when you blow into the top of a glass bottle. It will only howl at low RPMs. Once the turbo spools up over about 3 lbs of boost, it is replaced by just turbo whistle. I can crank on the v-clamp to tighten it a little and it will go away. Give it a few weeks and it will be back. Crank on the clamp some more and it will go away again. I finally stripped the threads on the v-clamp from cranking on it too much. That led to trying other aftermarket clamps. Other clamps never fit quite right, but a little custom work with the grinder and it mated together OK. Still couldn't get a good seal though. So I ordered another clamp from Cummins and will try again with double gaskets and see what happens. If there is a better way, I sure would like to know.
I just used a the new clamp that I ordered from Banks...V-clamp with no gasket. I have had it on and off twice...no problems yet. 10-15k and counting. I have turbo whistle at low rmps but not howl???

and learned it didnt work with the factory clamps (too wide)
I went to my local truck repair shop and found the narrowest 4" clamp available
it worked like a champ
it was for a mack application, thats all I know about it
and I have no gasket
I would think the vibration would take its toll on it (the gasket)
something to add too
not only get a tighter clamp
but
I did have to take the clamp on the out end loose and wiggle the down pipe as I tightened on the v clamp (only way to ensure the surfaces mate together)
after ensuring it was mated together then tighten the clamp on the "other" end
this took care of my leak
I gotta do it again though cause I had my turbo off last week and just hooked everything up again instead of being ****
and I think I stretched out the clamp
