Question Down pipe question

A friend just bought a Bully Dog 3" downpipe 6 months ago for his 1997 CTD...
Decided he's going to put on a 4" downpipe then stacks up in the bed. Yes he changes his mind on a dime.

?????????????????????????????????????????

Will that 3" downpipe fit on my 2003 SO truck?
If I'm not mistaken, the '03 SO trucks have 2.5" exhaust start to finish?

You have a 3 1/2" downpipe on your stock 2003......So don't down size to a 3" If anything you want to go to a 4" down pipe....

Wow, I thought it was smaller for some reason...?

If you keep the stock downpipe and 4" it back from there - the DP is your bottle neck and then the gains would be marginal at best...?

And in all honesty, if I keep her stock, and only do the exhaust and maybe a better intake, am I really going to notice anything by the "seat of the pants" test??

Your hp gains will be very minimal, the exhaust and intake is more for keepin the trubo/pistons cool. But it will help your turbo spool up a little quicker wich should result in lower ETs.

I doubt you would have a seat of the pants feel with an exhaust and a intake.

My mistake...
This friend has a Bully Dog DP thats ((3.5" at the turbo - the rest of the pipe is 4" ...))

***So Now it seems to make sense to re-ask the question....***

Will a DP from the '97-'98 CTD fit a '03 with no major reconstruction work...?

Only reason I'm asking is that he wants it out of the garage- that translates into FREE....

The turbo in the older truck sits a lot lower than the 3rd gen. That downpipe won't work on your 03......
