Don't let other people touch your truck when you need it...

I've got to blow off some steam here...

I brought the truck up to a frame and alignment specialty shop and they found the axle was bent and the frame needed 6 hrs of straightening. I brought it in Monday. They said they straightened the frame Wednesday and were just waiting on the axle. I told them that I NEEDED the truck on Friday, whether I have to put the axle in or they do. I told them I wanted to put the axle in and they said they can't let me do that, yada yada yada because they need the old one for a core. So they said it would be done Friday morning. That's fine, I'll have it for the weekend to put the DT trackbar on, I can make the mount for the tranny cooler under the bed, I can replace the taillight, mount the plow frame, hook up the aux bakup lights, etc. Basically I could do everything that I had planned for the last 3 weeks over the weekend so the truck is ready to plow. Well, I call them at 3:45 today and they say, "Oh, the axle didn't get in until 2:00 today and our tech left at one. He already pulled the old axle out so it is strapped onto the hoist right now." I said so when will it be done? They say "We'll have it first thing on Monday morning for you" I offered to come in and put it in myself, they said their insurance wouldn't allow that. I said well can you just put the ubolts on and strap it to the leaf springs and I'll finish in the parking lot. He says nobody works on other peoples jobs around there. I said do you have any idea how bad we need this truck today - It just has to be at my house so I can work on it. He says "what do you want me to do about it, I'm already 3 guys short" I said well then I won't be in the way if I can bolt the leaves down and roll it outside. He said he can't do that. I said so there is absolutely zero chance of getting the truck today, and he said yes, I'd have it Monday. I said thanks and hung up.

I just can't believe how much of a hassle this is. When I get the truck back it will be 4 days short of a month that it was down. Right now my head is spinning I am so mad. These people are the worst shop to deal with. If anybody gets hit by drunk drivers in the Twin Cities area of MN, PM for the name of the shop.

Seems about par for the course ... whenever you need something the shops can't come through. And they wonder why they have irate customers all of the time!

On a sidenote though how do you like that Blizzard??

Matt, I'm picking up a beat up Bobcat trailer tommorrow that needs a bunch of work. Would it make you feel better if you could work on that this weekend instead?

How about some leaf raking?

This happens to me all the freakin' time, and I get SO MAD, but there's nothing I can do about it. These guys have you by the cajones!

Sometimes I just want to walk in there and punch somebody! LOL

Usually what I do is I stand out in front of the shop and chit-chat with their customers and start persuading others to not get work done their by telling them my story,

I remember back in 86 a guy in Roanoke Va was arrested for firing a shot through the roof of a dealership with a handgun.

Seems he had all he could take getting the run around about his vehicle. I recall thinking at the time " Who could blame him?'

Of course it was the wrong thing to do and he had some legal issues because of his actions, thank God he didn't shoot anybody....But who of us at one time or another hasn't felt like doing something as crazy?

Sometimes things happen out of the repair guys control, but often as not it could be prevented. Merrick has the right idea, hit them where it hurts, right in the wallet

But be reasonable about it, and only if you KNOW you are being taken advantage of.

Well, I have settled down a bit now. But I am going to hit them in their pocket book. It just bothers me that they didn't even bother to call me about it... Oh well, this is the last time someone else touches my truck... well maybe I'll give the go ahead to Sheid's or Peirs

stuff like this happens all the time with our on demand type business's nowdays ..... nobody stocks anything and when the courier doesn't show up on time ..the fit hits the shan ........

couple thing s can be done to help minimise the problem ........ if the truck is still useable as is get the shop to order the parts and don't drop the truck off untill they have the parts in hand...........

second thing is to get a loss of use rider on your insurance policy ........ I have one on mine that allows me to rent a vehicle up to 63 dollars a day on their dime while the truck is being repaired under an insurance claim.

or if you don't wanna pay the extra for the rider you can just rent a truck on your dime ........... this may be cheaper if they charge you a lot for the rider and you never have an accident ( actually now that I think about it I've been paying an extra 100 bucks a year for that rider and I've never used it)

other than that your kinda SOL once a shop has your truck you don't get it back till they wana release it ............

I have had similar things happen in the past ..........it sucks ....I feel your pain
