It's coming soon, May 17th and 18th. For those who haven't been, it's always well attended, the dyno crew really moves the trucks through the line, and there is plenty of food - though we do expect you to bring some to share.

Darn, don't get to see many 89-90 trucks show too often there! I remember an electrician (had an IBEW logo on the back window!) brought a white version similar to yours last year. He bought a fresh used set of stacks and I think Wannadiesel fiddled around a little bit under the hood, then ran it on the dyno for a good shakedown baseline run, even 727 equipped. The truck was a diamond in the rough.

I haven't even added it to my sig yet, but I'm getting a '93 truck. I'm not even bringing my '96, gonna bring the '93 and do a before and after dyno. Gonna let Wannadiesel add a KDP killing to his long list, and work some magic into the pump between runs.. the 2nd run may just end up being Sunday. Saturdays are usually quite busy!! This truck isn't even on the road yet, needs a bed and trans. It's getting a steel flatbed and a Goerend 47RH, lockup tranny!![guitar]

I plan on being there. If not running on the dyno, at least helping guys get their stuff together.

Nick, I hope to catch you again at Beaver Springs soon. It sucks because I have to take a day off work to go. I think next time I am taking the 4 wheeler, its WAY too hard to be consistent with my truck.

If you want, we can swap on my small set of tires (245's) and see if your truck will get into the 12.7's [guitar]

I don't have a problem with consistency.. Just can't cut a good light in the eliminations! I could DEEP STAGE like you're supposed to with any kind of tall rubber, but that's cheating to me[laugh] Same thing if I tried taking some weight off.. toolbox, tailgate and the sandbags in the bed! My summer tires are going to be going on soon (305s), that may cost a 10th or so too..

I sure will be Mike!! WannaDiesel and i were talking about your truck at the last Petro meet.. and he explained to me about your injectors were not popped correctly for the VE pump, back in the fall on the dyno. So.. I'll be studying your dyno numbers again and this will determine if i want to stay with the VE or go to the P!!![guitar]

We got the trans in on Tues and should start work on it next week if all goes well. If I'm lucky.. the truck could be ready for next weekend and I'll ride down to the Buck in it Saturday (10th).

Shouldn't have much trouble doing this trans conversion thanks to the sticky you wrote up some time back!!..

Good deal, what converter or stator did you go with? I have what he calls a 800/300 in my truck right now. I currently have a ready to go built trans with no valve body or converter and I want to get the feel for a looser converter for the other 93 which I'm performing surgery on right now because of frame rot.

On a different note, I'm trying to talk a friend of mine into driving his late 70's F150 shortbed out with a 4BT transplanted in it.

I will not be at the Buck, 1 the truck isn't even ready to pull and 2nd I really have a problem paying to get in then paying to hook. 3rd, I'm between jobs right now and don't need to be spending that kind of money on fuel.

nick17847
05-02-2008, 10:29 PM
I should have worded that a little different above.. "RECEIVED" the trans this past Tues... and should get the bed on and trans in this coming week if all goes well

Anyway... I didn't speak with Dave and place the order but pretty much asked for a run of the mill trans good for 400hp with a billet input. Pretty much the same thing that went into my '96 back in 2004 minus the billet input. He usually has the numbers written on the converter.. so I'll have to take a peek at it before it gets installed.. I want to say that it is a 900/400 model though, and that's what is likely in the '96 as well. It is rather tight!

The Buck, ..I've been going down to their events rather consistent now for four seasons and I've seen a lot of diesel pickup drivers come and go.. And that's a shame! I've pretty much figured out that it's much better off just coming and.. walking around the pits to check things out (like, I've stopped and chatted with you last year), then just sit back and enjoy the show. Everything but the competition is very predictable.. Ozz (the older one of the two announcers) will have the same old stories, Brickers Concessions has a line half-way around the track and always some eye candy walking around:cool:. It is a racket there to get in and compete.. I know a local puller that always takes the whole young family with.. and they will charge at the gate for every head in the vehicle.. $17 bucks a pop times 4 or 5 or more children adds up in a real hurry....:o

Captain, Dave from SGS runs the truck. He will do anything you would like and you can also be in the passenger seat if you want. He is excellent at what he does and has dynoed hundreds of diesel trucks.

Thats good to hear. I know some of these people have never dynoed a truck before and that makes me nervious when they attempt to drive it up the ramps. the dyno I did before the guy let you drive it up and run it.

You park the truck on the dyno and back it out of the bay afterward, Dave just operates the loud pedal on the dyno runs. The way SGS does it saves a lot of time that is usually spent getting the vehicle owner and the dyno operator coordinated.

what are the rain options on this deal?????? trying to figure my weekend out and the rain has to be a factor. hope to get out there, ideas ?

nick17847
05-16-2008, 02:49 PM
It's rain or shine. The only thing that is asked is try not to dig up the lawn.. and the guys dynoing.. try to make a pass or two up the road to clear the mud from the tires.. Saves the folks in the dyno bay from getting a mouthful of mud.. LoL.

Looking back on the old photos.. Fall Brawl '03 was a rainy one. Didn't hurt attendance though.

The latest weekend forecasts I've heard are saying it may try to clear up some... So it could be rain free!

Dockboy
05-16-2008, 02:50 PM
Rain or shine!!

Looks like the weather may be a tad questionable for the weekends festivities. So I will ask that everyone please be considerate when entering and leaving the grassy hill as it will be soft.

Also,
If it does rain this shows will happen anyway and we will dyno until finished. However,if it does rain we will ask that those owners who dyno please run the trucks down the road and back to ensure some of the mud is removed from the tire treads. We have done this before and it worked out well and we appreciate the co-operation from everyone.

IF your going to be using the shop for work we also ask that you dyno sometime during the weekend as its the least you can do.Remeber to please bring something along to be cooked or eat and/or some drinks,as we have some left from the fall but not near enough to feed a big crowd.

Look forward to seeing everyone again and lets all hope for good weather

We also will be running a bracket style shootout for those who dyno on each day.Its a contest to see how well you know your own truck, the added cost will be $1 with the winner taking it all. When its your turn to dyno simply write down on your T-time card what you think your truck will make for HP and pay the man in the dyno bay the extra dollar. The owner who is the closest to his HP guess will win the added pot.In case more than one owner end up in a tie,the purse that is gathered will be split between them all.YOU MUST BE PRESENT to collect your winnings at the end of each day.Separate events will be held for both days and all owners are eligible each day if they dyno on each day and pay the fee...........

Yeah I know.. I'm still quite stoked! I was sure bringing the truck with some basic hard parts already installed (by previous owner) and letting the gurus fiddle with it would be an experience for myself and them!

I think that's gotta be some world record[laugh], It's still got a stock airbox with a stock element, OEM lift pump and lines back and into the tank. All stuff that is sufficent on a first gen at 160hp.. But not quite like the OEM stuff on a 2nd gen.

That's the first thing I told Hammer in the dyno bay after that run there SmokenS! My actual guess for HP was 340hp on the card.. for the shootout.

Yep, you called that one Mike! I think it quit sometime after you and I looked at it.. and before the dyno bay (which wasn't long!).. because i did glance down a few times while it was in there, and was dry then.

No not bad numbers at all there! with low 400s hp wise and 4 digit torque.. You know that's defineatly a VE in there! If i see the total rundown of numbers get posted elsewhere and not end up getting on here.. I'll be sure to get them copied for all else to see.

Saturday or Sunday? I don't remember seeing any Grey ones with a flatbed on sunday. Mines silver, but it has a pickup bed on it.

Yeah Josh.. That's Arch's first gen, after some tuning by Wannadiesel.. he rolled the rollers mid-day Saturday.

That is his truck above in Loylds pic, Archie is the shaved head guy with black shirt, black pants. His wife Jane is standing behind. 92Diesel is also present showing his PDW shirted backside.

My dad and I talked to him - nice guy. I think his name was Mike or Rick, man can't remember exactly. Anyway he said he had just a bunch of work done by Lloyd Mills. He said he dynoed 500+. Yeah, nice looking truck.
