i was thinking about linexing the rockers and such but i dont know if i want to do it or not? i was wondering about rock chip that is clear does this product exist and is it worth it? thanks a lot

My neighbor uses some 3M clear film when he takes out any of his corvettes. He uses it on the front and rockers on the car to minimize bugs/rock dings.

I bought some heavy duty clear vinyl that is about 6 or 7 in. wide and comes in lenghts of 20 ft or so. It sounds like what YOU DA MAN is talking about except this stuff is not temporary. I used it on my 04 just inside the door openings to keep the paint from being scuffed. I bet it would work great on the rockers too! It goes on by cutting it to size, then dippin it into soapy water and then squeegying out the bubbles. There is an adhesive, but the recommended application involves the soapy water. I'll see if I cant find a link or something.

Cabelas sells what appears to be the same thing, and I'm planning to install it sometime this summer. The only thing I'm worried about are the rock chips and dings I already have on the truck. I guess I'll be doing a lot of touch up before installing the trimbrite stuff.

Cabela's use to have customer feedback on this product, but I don't see it now. Having read the feedback in the past, it sounded like it isn't that easy to install, especially on curved/angled surfaces. On the other hand, with it being heavy duty, it probably does a good job protecting the rockers.

Mylar. Lots of companies market it. I think you can search it under Invisible Bra. Only problem is that it will lose it's gloss over time. There are paint products called rocker texture that can be sprayed over scuffed paint, then painted and cleared for a factory look. Or at least what the factory should have done.

Have had this stuff on 2 trucks now. Had it on an '02 and it never yellowed or got dull.
I'd reccomend the pre cut kits for real curvy odd shaped surfaces, but they sell in bulk too which would be good for covering rockers, etc.
It's easy to apply. Use 1 squirt bottle with 4-5 drops of dish soap in it. Wet the film, wet the surface and lay it on, squeege it out. You can pull it off and re-position no problem as long as the surfaces stay wet with the soap water. After the piece is all set peel up the edges and spray them with a 50/50 alchohol/water mix and squeege down. This will dissipate the soap water and keep the edges from peeling. After you do this, it's stuck though.

I have posted this like 100 times. VENTURESHIELD!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE! I used it on my rockers, hood, headlights, and lined the underneith of my fenderflares to cure the rub problems. You will NEVER EVER have a flare rub through this stuff..... you cannot destroy this stuff. I always see the people talking about there flares rubbing through, so I post Venture shield and its like it goes unnoticed. It is 3 times thicker than that crap 3M material. Its crystal clear. Does not yellow. Can be removed. You can lay this stuff on a piece of plexi glass and key the living heck out of it and you will NOT scratch it. Throw rocks at it..... nothing. Go on Youtube and check it out. Check it out. You will not regret it!!!!
