They are different. From what I understand, the pressures are higher in the HO version. Don't know much else about the differences though.

i believe the '01s and '02s are the same injection pumps for the HO's. yep, pressure more than flow whereas the SO is flow more than pressure.

Re:Does the 2002 H.O. have a different inj pump than the S.O.?

Yes, the injector pumps are different but, the 2001 and 2002 pumps should be the same. Other differences are:

Electronic Controls: New ECM calibration and fueling algorithms.
Fuel Pump: Increased fuel flow in the Bosch VP44 injection pump.
Injectors: Designed to provide increased fuel flow.
Injector note posted to the TDRoundtable by tgbol:
ETH injectors (3946306) flow 600cc at 100bars for 30 seconds
ETC injectors (3944828) flow 640cc at the same test.
Turbocharger: Revised wastegate setting for 26psi at the turbocharger outlet.
Manifold boost specification is 43.5 inches Hg / 21 psi
Head: Valve seat inserts for added durability.
Pistons: New pistons with higher 17:1 compression ratio.
Flywheel: New flywheel with 330 mm diameter clutch (vs. std. 310 mm).

So an HO will take avantage of the 275 injectors better? More pressure = more flow?

HOdiesel

Yes that is correct HOdiesel -

from what i have read on these threads, the 275s will make about 40 horses on a ETC [non HO]
and the ETH [HO] they will make 50 horses....

i think the HO injectors are smaller than the ETC injectors...

And 275's in ETH make more then 50hp.

Re:Does the 2002 H.O. have a different inj pump than the S.O.?

You guys have about covered it. The -028 pumps in the 2001 and 2002 HO trucks deliver a little more pressure, but a little LESS volume. That's why the ETHs get more power from injectors than an ETC does... and also why an ETC gets more power from a fueling box than an ETH does.

Most injectors will make at least 15hp more in the ETH. The larger the injector, the bigger the HP difference.

Yes, the ETH stock injectors are smaller than the ETC stockers.

With an HO engine, there's not really much of a reason to go with anything smaller than a DD2 (75-90hp) injector. An EDM from F1 diesel would be even better..If you tow really heavy, just use a simple boost fooler instead of a box and your temps will be fine.

People have tried to swap the ETC pumps onto the ETH engines, but I dont think anyone has done it successfully. I am not sure why-- do you know, Eric?
