Dodge Ext Warranty vs Aftermarket

I'm presented with an unusual situation here.

I'm looking at buying a 2001 Ram 3500 with 24,000 miles with 2 months left on the 3 years/36,000 mile factory warranty. Either way I am getting an extended warranty with this truck.

I talked to the Dodge dealership after going down to test drive the truck and they said since it was still within the base factory warranty period I could purchase their extended warranty (7years/100,000miles). I couldn't get a price quote on it because the right guy wasn't in today.

The independent dealership I will be purchasing the truck from also offers an extended warranty. It is through Great Lakes Warranty (http://greatlakeswarranty.com/about_us.htm). It covers everything that I am worried about (transmission and LP/Injection). It is an unlimited mile warranty. For 3 years the price was $1500... I believe for 5 years it was $2100. The guy talked up the service real good. Repairs can be made anywhere in the country, no questions asked, etc

I am tempted to go with the Dodge warranty because to me it seems like it would be less hassle.

Does anyone have any experience? Such as going with aftermarket warranty and wishing you went with Dodge or vice versa?

Thanks.
