Dodge/Cummins testing New motor in Fargo ND

So background, before the 4th Gen trucks came out they tested truck here in Fargo, during the winter of 2008-2009. There was a fleet of about 10+ trucks that ran around the Fargo area, with just about ever configuration, including, plows, dumb boxes, flat beds, work boxes, and pulling trailers. They were all dress in black camo and sported USDot numbers, Not for Hire stickers and Michigan plates.

Fast forward to yesterday.

So yesterday I saw a black CCLB 4x4 with michgain plates. It also has a big Cummins logo on the door, USdot numbers and Not for Hire stickers on it. I also notice it has a unit number in the back window. No camo, looks like a stock 4th gen.

So today I stop by Cummins to get a filter to my truck, and there is a another on of the trucks with the big C on the side. Its a CCLB Dually. I talk to the guy driving it. Asked what they were doing. He told me they are testing a new motor. I asked if there was a DEF fill under the fuel filler door(which was the same as the current stock one). He laughed and said I knew to much and he could tell me anything more. He also said I couldn't get any closer. Also truck sounded like a stick when he took off, and had a B&W hitch on it. I have a few pictures.

So are they testing a new motor with DEF, or an HO stick maybe? Like I said the exterior sheet metal was the same. Nothing looked different from the out side. I could not get close enough to see the inside.

Pictures

Notice the filler door same size.

Too bad that guy doesn't belong to this site and maybe give us some candy about it so we could droll about driving one someday.

Was that an alien driving the truck? Look at the big head of that animal driving it. You should have knocked him out, opened the hood and took pictures of the engine and inside of cab then threw his *** in the truck and walked off. haha

Rumors been flying that the 2013 2500 and 3500 will have SCR.

Should have dropped your keys to see if there's a DEF tank under the truck on the driver's side frame rail.

I drive by the Cummins dealer every day on my way to work, I will have to see if they are around tomorrow.

Also the guy was kinda short and stocky. Hence the large head and low in the seat, we was also reaching around to buckle up when I took the picture.

Ok, saw a third truck today, it was a CC flatbed, appeared to be a 4500 from the badge I could see. If I remember correctly 4500 use Urea already. Wonder what they are up to.

It was my understanding that by '14 all (2500/3500) diesels will have urea. I thought it was a surprise that '12 trucks didn't (except for the CC trucks). Could be gearing up for '13.

Next time keep your head down and be nosy until you're run off
