Do you use your exhaust brake in town

So, if you have an exhaust brake, do you use it in town?
Just wondering if the "no engine brake" signs we see in town apply to our trucks.

Also have you ever gotten a ticket for using it?

All the time. It's loud enough to hear but not so loud it disturbs anyone.

It's not an engine brake, it's an exhaust brake.

You won't get a ticket for using your exhaust brake. If you use it running around empty, it might be a good idea to wire in a relay to kick your brake lights on when the exhaust brake is engaged. That way you won't get pulled over for no brake lights, or rear ended by someone who's not paying attention.

I leave mine on all the time. I've never heard of anyone getting stopped for using an exhaust brake in a "no engine brake" zone. As for the brake lights, I see no difference in using the exhaust brake from gearing down to slow when coming to a stop. You don't have brake lamps then either until you actually step on the pedal.
