What do you think of this lift?

I'm wanting to run 38x15.5 MTZs on my truck. I have a 2006 3500 black quadcab shortbox. Right now i'm running 2" leveling spacers.

I'm currently piecing together a lift, and i'm wondering what you guys think. I'd be running:
-6" Top Gun Customz lift with my Revtek spacers on top of the coils
-Rock Krawler adjustable long arm upgrade
-Rock Krawler adjustable trackbar
-Skyjacker dual steering stabilizers
-Skyjacker 2" AALs in the back (with the 4" Top Gun Customz blocks)
-Extended rear brakelines

the kit will come to around $2090 with shipping... will i be able to run 38x15.5R20 MTZs on my current 20x10 wheels with 4.5" backspacing? (i am running the wheels right now)
I'm willing to trim the bumper/plastic inner fender, but i won't cut metal on the fender

Well....you get what you pay for....

The geometry on the Rock Krawler long arms is horrible. Don't know anything about their track bar, don't know anybody who's run one. Skyjacker steering stabilizers will last about a year (maybe) before they're shot out, and the AAL's are gonna make the rears ride like

What shocks were you planning on?

Seeing as how you can run 37" with 3" of lift and the right backspace, you should be able to run 38's with 6" and no spacer....

I don't think you can clear 38 15.50's with a 6" lift. Maybe but it would rub. I am running a 6" lift with 36 15.50's. And the Superlift rockrunner arms.

Sorry, just re-read. You are putting the spacer on top. Should be good.

Hmmm... everyone who i've heard from who runs anything rock krawler seems happy.... is it crappy or what?

Also, i don't do much offroad. It's pretty much a pavement queen so i'm not too worried about the steering stabilizers.
I already have the wheels, so i'm stickin' with them. They are a 20x10 wheel with 4.5" backspacing, so this will limit what i can fit on the truck. I don't want anything narrower... i'm a fan of meaty fatter tires, not taller and thin (37x13.5). What do you suggest i do instead? The only other long arms out there for the 3rd Gen i can find are BDS and they aren't adjustable. Should i just stick with a plain 6" kit and run 36s?

I dig your truck!
how do you like your tires? Do you rub at all with that lift/tire combo?

I have the full Rock Krawler kit and have no complaints. I did research before buying and got positive feedback from people running it. Granted I have their radius arm setup, not 4-link long arms, so there is a difference there. In fact the only real negatives I have heard from their stuff were their coilovers corroding, and they have since changed suppliers (Radflo). I think it may be pretty stiff with the AAL's though. Maybe consider some BDS or Skyjacker leafs with a small block? I belive they both sell them seperate from the kit and would shorten the lift block too.

The biggest problem is those 15.50's you wanna run, you'll need an obnoxious amount of lift just to keep 'em off the fenders. They'll rub on the CA's anyhow. Since you're keeping your wheels, I wouldn't go any bigger/wider than a 37/12.50. Any wider they'll rub somewhere....but a 12.50 would probably look silly on a 10" wide wheel. I run mine on an 8" wheel.

Anything more than 4-5" you're gonna have driveline issues unless you clock the transfer case.

If it's gonna be a mall crawler, you might be okay with the Rock Krawler stuff, I just happen to like the BDS stuff better, maybe just because I have a little experience with it. I like the geometry better on the BDS kit.

No reason why you should need adjustable CA's, as long as the gemetry is right to begin with, all you'll need to do is fine tune the caster.

i thought running an 8" lift with arms made for a 6" kit would screw up clearance for tires? don't longer arms keep the tires away from the fenders?

Not really. The arms are not going to affect clearance tire wise unless they are bent arms for extra internal clearance. I don't know of any for our trucks, and it won't affect the fender clearance at all. With the 6" kit arms, you would just need to place the rear arm mounts closer to the front end to center the wheel in the well. With the 8" kit arms you might get a little smoother ride from the angles, but that is not a given. I would guess that an 8" lift with 6" long arms would ride like a 6" lift with the standard arms, I may be off there though...

I have also had a number of people that work with industrial equipment take a look at my lift and every one of them has commented on how it is over built. I would definatley not place it into the pavement pounder category, but that's just my opinion.

I love those MTZ's. They will definetly throw some mud if you want to. Mine do not rub at all. I also have 4.5" backspacing. I get so many compliments on them. I like the wide tire look too.

Yes, but you dont have a wide off set wheel or a wide tire. He is going to be running both.

I don't know... the 13.5" Toyos seem pretty wide to me!
