Ok time for another poll.

I was on my way home today and a guy in an older lifed 7.3L F250 was pulling out, and I was going to make a right turn, but me being me I pulled back in the straight lane and he pulled up next to me at the light. As usual I looked over at his truck and look up at him, and he and his passenger both gave me a respectful nod and I did the same back to them, as I usually do to people in diesel trucks. When the light turned green, I didn't mash it, but was ready to just in case. Anyway, he took off slowly (of course I had to take off a little faster than he did , but no stoplight wars at all. I'll be first to admit that I really do like the 7.3L Fords, I actually considered going to look at a few before I found my 3500. I like the way they look and I do think the 7.3 is a very good motor, but its not a Cummins.

I've had this happen a lot, usually when I make eye contact with someone next to me at a stoplight, its like you are instantly saying LETS RACE!!!!!. But it just seems like there is a certain amount of respect that guys (and gals ) who drive diesel trucks have for one another that you would never see pulling up next to someone in a car.

No. The only vehicle I have ever noticed people having an appreciation for each other over has been Jeeps, and even then mostly just the older ones. I think that tolerating the oddities and discomforts along with them being such a pain in the rump to maintain and keep going engenders certain amount of respect amongst their owners.

I agree, I've been at the diesel pump and would be able to strike up a conversation with the other diesel owner who is filling up as well, my wife just looks at me and shakes her head, I guess she just doesn't understand.

I respect all of them....except the 6 oh no guys and jacked up pimped out duracraps that still have the independent susp. and the 5" exhaust pipe as a driveshaft

Most cummins drivers I pass always check it out and knod. Fords always look to, but rarely give any aknowlegment, i had a good experience once, I pulled up next to a 24v cummins and his window was down and he was on his cell phone, and as soon as I pull up I rev alittle and he rolled up his window, lol. I thought that was kinda funny so I had to pull out in front of him after that.

Like when I first got my truck on the road a buddy of mine and me where going through town and I had this kid in a stroker following me alll through town and getting in the centerlane of a 35mph road passing me throwing smoke thinking he was somthing.

Then he pulled up to me askn if I wanted to race @ the local Sheetz and I explained to him about me only having the stock TC and how it slips in lockup and would be an unfair advantadge to him and how he could brag about it.

So just aocuple weeks ago I was sittn there at the local mc donalds and he pulled up and started running his yap again (I ment no harm) So I called up a buddy and he pulled up in his d-max and threw it down on the stroker on the local highway as I sat back and watched.

But yea, other than that we all have respect for each other.
We all pretty mcuh know what eachother has done so we don't compete to much.

I may be wrong here, but it seems like everyone driving diesel trucks just look at one another as competition like we are at a race track. I was coming up behind another Cummins truck yesterday on Route 40 near Washington, PA & cruising about 50 mph. As soon as the car in front of the guy turned....he took off like a bat outta hell. Like he was saying "catch me if you can". Give me a break buddy....we are in a residential area not a race track or open highway.

Yea that's true sometimes. Especially if you pull up to a Duramax, cause they try to prove they're better. Duramax owners always think they're big and bad. Cummins owners are sleepers. They don't have to prove anything. Ford'ers know better...

There's so many diesel trucks where I live it's like a norm. Nobody cares anymore.

I'm with J Lent. A while back I was cruising just enjoying the nice day and a black dually just like mine sneaked up behind me and poured on the coal. He totally eclipsed me and the street before I could roll up the window. Well I turned on the wipers and blinked the lights a couple times to acknowledge his victory. Smelled like diesel all day.

At the gas pump usually there is friendly conversation. On the road I usually wave at diesels friend or foe but it's almost like giving the "universal sign of friendship" because they almost always try to upstage me.

Actually I give way to the big trucks especially at intersections and difficult turns and usually get a wave or lights.

I'm the same way, I think that most people fail to realize how hard a lot of these truckers work, and how hard it is for them to drive around and make turns on a two-lane street when the person in the SUV has pulled halfway into the intersection before coming to a stop.

I've noticed that here too. Duramax drivers always want to race. I get more slack from the ricers out this way....and I've had my share of rice! A friend of mine just told me yesterday that a CRX with nos wants a piece....just never ends! Everytime I see that CRX....we are going different directions & he revs it up as he passes. Not trying to steal the post.
