I have a chance to buy a 98 Dodge 2500 Shortbox 4x4 with an auto tranny and only 73,000 miles on it. Its an extended cab, 4 doors in Excellent shape. I can get it for $16,500, do you think thats a pretty good deal? Thanks, and heres a pic of it.

Re:What do you guys think?

Oh no I am sorry. It is the 24 Valve. Is that a bad thing? I dont really have the expenses to gain more horsepower and all that yet so the chips and computers are kinda out of the question for now but eventually I will. So you dont think the 24 Valve is bad do u?

Re:What do you guys think?

it probably is a 24 valve...not a bad thing, 12 valve is easier to to mods on maybe. First thing i would do is see if i could find out some history on the truck, see if it's been in any accidents, find out what it was used for...if you have any friends that know diesels, have em look at it. It's a nice looking rig what with the cab lights, tonnue(sp?) cover and running boards.
First thing i would do is hose all that armour-all off the wheels!

Re:What do you guys think?

Sounds O.K. on the price considering the mileage. Seems like its hard to find any diesel around here with less than 100k unless it's only two years old.

Looks like a nice rig. If you are concerned have it checked by an independent shop. That way you would be sure.

Re:What do you guys think?

See if your local Dodge service Department can run a Maint. Record check on it in D/C's computer.
It'll show if the remaining engine warranty may have been voided due to previous owner's "Mods".

Re:What do you guys think?

If it checks out OK with your local mechanic who's diesel savy, and it looks as good as the pics.......I think you'll be happy with it.

Re:What do you guys think?

It looks like a nice truck. In my experience if you really like the truck, the price with in reason dos'nt matter. Looks like you got a good deal.

Mine was 100k miles or 5 years, so you may be outside of the 5 years unless the original owner bought an extended policy.
