OK guys you have your truck just the way you want it with all kinds of nice engine mods to make it jump like a scalded cat. Then you have a power steering pump or disc brake or sun roof issue. You want these things repaired under warranty so do you strip off all your stuff (even though the problem is not related to your mods) and then bring it in?? If you don't will the dealer mark your VIN in the computer that the engine has been chipped (or what ever it was you did) and void all future engine or truck warranty??

I know that they can not void your warranty for using non OEM maintenance items like filters but that act does not cover modifications.

I usually wait to do anything obvious before the warranty runs out, except for the simple plug-n-play things like my Xillaraider. When I do take it in, it pops right out so everything looks normal. Doesn't take much time at all.

I'm saving the hardcore mods for when I hit the 100k warranty mark in about 5k miles. So, sometime next month, I'll kick in with the better toys that I won't need to worry about. It will be like getting a second upgrade or a new truck, lol. Best part is, I won't have to move out of the back this truck and into another one.

I've not looked into the Edge Juice or Attitude, yet. If it isn't too much of a hassle to remove them, it might be wise for appearance sake.

You are going to get a multitude of different responses to this question. The opinions will vary from take it off and to heck with the dealer to you pay you play. I say do what you feel comfortable with. There are folks that constantly remind folks that if you "MOD" anything you should be prepared to pay. They will try anything to void warranties, you mention sunroof and I see this as a dealer response if you leave on your performance mods
"yeah, your warranty is void and the sunroof is not covered because you upgraded the power and because of that, there was an over normal amount of g-forces put on the sunroof and that is why it quit working"

i take the downloaders/modules off before going in....but leave everything else. It ain't easy to swap a turbo and an exhaust manifold (and more toys) just for the dealer's sake.

I even took my truck in one time with the Bullydog loaded on the truck. I didn't think they would hook it up to the scan tool but they did....and STAR scan told them it was a Bullydog...or atleast so i was told.

If its an easy pull off, pull it off. If it involves more than 30 minutes, i'd just leave it. Im not gonna lie to the dealer....no sense in hiding anything. Removing the easy stuff is just a courtesy to the dealer. Trust me.....they hate aftermarket stuff in the way. My water/meth electronics were everywhere when i got my truck back from the dealer last week.

Pulling stuff off is probably a good idea. Not to hide things, but you don't want them to reflash your ecm while you have a downloader on there. And they will reflash it without telling you.

I have always removed any module/programmer when I've taken the truck into the dealership which was been twice. Once was for a TSB ECM flash and the other was when my lift pump went south.

This was at 2 different dealerships and they never said anything to me. It was always "Mr. Maxville, your truck is ready go....warranty covered everything, please sign here. Here's your keys...thank you!"

I was worried they'd say something about my S&B intake or my exhaust but both dealerships are somewhat "mod friendly" to certain extents from what I've heard.

We are fortunate here. No worries re: anything. Just leave the programer in the back seat and if needed they will unload it and reflash the comp. We are really really lucky to have such a gracious dealership!!!

It will totally depend on the dealer, and the mechanic working on it. If the mechanic is a cool guy, he wont say anything, if he is having a bad day, and maybe decided that he didnt like you he will call in the service manager,, then you would be SOL. Tough call, I am lucky and am friends with pretty much everybody at both dealers here in town.

My service manager knows what I have. He is a good guy and tells it like it is. With my mods I don't expect much engine or drive train warranty. If something breaks and he thinks its not related to mods he will do the right thing. If it is a Star approval issue then I just forget it and pay for what I break. They do not do my performance work, but I do trust the service manager and tech to do diagnostics. I do have some maintenance and service work done there.

I certainly cannot remove enough to matter and never have from the beginning. I just tell them to be very careful on any test drives since with my current triple stack settings it can get away from you if not use to it .
