What Do Yall's stock temp gauges read?

Mine reads a needle above 190, no matter how I drive. This weekend I drove the school's 99 2wd 2500. It was usually around 165-170. I even couldn't get it above 180, and that was driving over 80mph in 90* weather?

Can anyone explain why this is much lower than mine?

Apparently the t-stats were changed at some point.... I asked a similar question recently, see this thread;

Anyone have a part number for a 180* t-stat? I'm tired of mine hovering above 190. The fan is always on and it's killing the power. Thanks.

Be sure to watch your tranny temp. Since the 180* t-stat will turn off your fan, the tranny will get hot, since the fan isn't on. The tranny doesn't make enough heat to turn the fan on.

Cummins Part # for 180* t-stat..
3967195

If you walk into the Cummins dealer, and ask them for a 180* for Dodge,, they'll say they don't make one,, so leave your comments off the Table untill you pay.
