I'm replacing my tank and compressor from my Firestone kit this summer due to the installation of a Nathan AirChime K5LL. While it works like a champ, the 2 gallon tank isn't enough to air my bags up without waiting for a couple refills, and will not provide enough air for the horn.

Right now I'm looking at 8 gallons at 200 psi and adding a 150 psi max pressure valve to the horns, and maybe an Oasis XD3000 compressor. It really depends on how much time it will take for the install and how much time I have home from Iraq.

I see, I am looking at going with a 2-2 1/2 gallon tank, and hoping that will do the air bags (load assist) and the brake. I was not going to get the kit with the comp and tank because I have those already. I will not have horns so it seems just a matter of how fast the comp I have will fill the tank, versus how quick the bags drain it. Seems like the brake does not need much volume.

Your air bags won't need much volume either. Once you get them set for each load, they are good to go.

I have the default 1/2 gallon tank and viair compressor and I run the brake all the time.

The viair crapped out after abotu 10 months and I had it replaced under warranty. I think I have the very first non viair compressor on my truck. It will fill the tank from empty in about 8 seconds flat. I am not sure of the compressor size but I could get it if you want/need it.

I have the default .5gal tank. Runs the brake and horns fine. Didn't hook the airbags into it (fill them once when the trailer is on and forget them). Buddy had an on-the-fly adjustable airbag system and likes it but I'm happy with manual inflation of the airbags since it saved over a $100

So my pacbrake is on and it I wanted to make sure its working right. I was driving a constant speed and when I turned the brake off at the switch, the truck shifted up, when I turned it back on the truck down shifted. I have it hooked into the ECM but did not know it would change shifts. Is it right?

Also I assume the kinda lound release of air is normal when it kicks back open or turns off.

Yes, it's working as designed. What you are noticing is the torque converter going into lock up, when you engage the switch. The brake will not engage if the converter isn't locked up.

The brief pssht you hear as you depress the throttle, or turn off the switch, to disengage the brake is the air cylinder releasing the air back into the atmosphere. Also normal
