Yes, I would like to get my 35 hp back but how?

My California model 97 5 spd is only rated at 180 hp where as a Federal 5spd model is at 215 hp. I know Dodge added an EGR in California model but if I removed that, would it give me back my 35 hp? It doesn't have an ECU to control the engine's fuel/timing map so I know it's not there.

I can always add a fuel plate but doesn't that mean I'm still 35 hp less then non-California 97-98 CTD? What caused the lost of 35 hp?

if you got a 180 pump and dv's on that 5 speed and want the 215 you will probably have to get a 215 pump to regain your hp. I thought they only put the 180 on automatics?
