do 99 dodge diesels have a one-way-valve in fuel line

I have my sending unit out of the tank; my lift-pump off and my fuel filter system removed. I would like to know before I put it back together if their is a one-way-check valve in the fuel line or in the sending unit and if their is where is it, I dont see it.

thanks Mike

I can't find the thread, thought I had seen it on this site about the check-valve to prevent prime loss. Must be an add-on.

Thanks for the reply.

I think there is a check valve, not sure if it is in vp44 or fuel line, can't remember. When I installed my FASS system I made the mistake of using an air hose to blow the fuel line out when I had the hole system dissconnected. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the truck started after installation of the Fass. I think in my repair manual I read something about it so I blew air back the opposite direction and the truck fired right up.

Well I pressurized the fuel line from the tank towards the lift pump to check for air leaks; didn't find a leak.

The micro mesh filter on the bottom of the sending unit had a lot of crud in it. Removed it and cleaned it, Dodge won't sell just the filter $489.00 for thr whole unit, so I cleaned it.

Fuel tank had some sand and debree in it, not too much I siphoned all the sand from the bottom of the tank. I replaced my lift pump; it started up 15 psi fuel pressure.

VP44 does have a check valve thanks, not sure if their is one in the fuel line.

When I removed my Bed both front mounting towers has cracks running from the mount hole to the outside edge of the metal I will get them welded this week.

Previous lift pump was a year old, not sure if clogged micro filter in tank ruined the lift-pump.

Thanks for replies, Mike
