DIY Installs/Mods

Has this been done yet? Has anyone run a thread on the installs/mods that they have done themselves. A nice 1 - 5 rating, easy - hard, would be nice too. Not sure how to start this dance but I've done all of my own bolt on's, save for the TC and VB in the tranny, with the most recent being the suspension air bags. I'd like to say, short of plumbing the control unit into the cab, the air bag install was as easy as chaning a tire. Definatly a 1 on my easy/hard scale. Anyone who tows a fifth wheel and want's to keep things on the level, and actaully knows what a socket set, ratchet and a combination wrench set are for should go after this one with a smile. Installing the bags and the control unit took me 4-4.5 hours. (I already had the air system on board from the Pac Brake install, but an air system and controller isn't needed at all for this setup.) So far, of all of the mods that I've done myself, I wouldn't give any of them a hardness rating over 2.5 really. The Exhaust Brake compressor install, in the cold of winter in my driveway was the 2.5, but that was just cause my fingers were so cold and laying in the snow in my insulated coveralls and parka wasn't all that fun. I have the short box quad cab and did run into a problem on the driver's side top mounting bracket running into the emergency brake tab welded to the frame. I fixed it with a little grinding and some black paint to keep things nice and squared up while looking neat and tidy. If you need a set, save a few bucks and DIY.

Coil spacer leveling kit: I say a "2" because I didn't have a buddy and the amount of jacking involved, otherwise a piece of cake. 2 hour job.

Muffler Delete: Very easy "1". Aftermarket delete pipe, sawzall the muffler off, used an angle grinder to slice open the remaining muffler pipe off of the exhaust so as not to loose any length. Used band clamps to install delete pipe and regular clamp with the hanger pre-welded to it. Simple as pie.

Front Bumper Replacement: "3" That FabFours bumper is heavy, better have a buddy or an engine hoist. A little bit of splicing into the factory harness for the driving and running lights. Some adjusting and such, but overall easy, just heavy!
