Dim console backlight

I have a 2006 3500 Ram that has very dim overhead console and radio backlights. In bright sun light the digits can hardly be seen and if you turn the headlights on they completely dissapear. Dimmer switch is turned all the way up and the lights are still too dim. Any suggestions as to the cause of this problem or a work around to get full power to these lights.

When you say dimmer is all the way up do you mean beyond the first click?

If I recall correctly, you have adjustable, then the first click is bright on, second click is interior lights on or dash lights off?

It is at the first click. Adjusting the reostat will make them even dimmer but no amount of adjusting will make the console legible in bright sun. I have seen other posts about this problem on another forum but no answers.

Think it's normal. Mine does the same in bright sunlight. If you need to run the headlights during daylight hours take it to the dealer to have the DRL enabled (probably under the Canadian menu option). Or installed some LED DRL's on the front and not use the headlights.
