Unhappy Different tunnel?

Im switching to a getrag, hopefully this weekend. I heard the tunnel on my 727 is too small. Will I have to get a getrag tunnel or can I make mine work?

I never heard that. But then again, the stuff I don't know about these trucks would fill volumes.

I've heard the tunnel in 2wd autos are smaller than manual 2wd and all 4wd trucks, but I'm sure you can make yours work. A guy I work with put a gutbag in his D350 auto and said it fit fine.

Yeah, it is too small. Auto 2x4's had small humps, Manual 2x4's have LARGE humps, Auto 4x4's have LARGE humps for the xfer case... and Manual 4x4's obv have the large hump as well. However, I just cut mine out a little large and the getrag fit, just watch out under high torque situations like popping the clutch in 1st or rev, it will hit the sides! M880's, adn 4sp manual 2x4 and ALL 4x4 dodge PU's from '72-'80 have a bolt in large hump that you can use! just cut out your existing floor and bolt in the new one!! You'll also have a getrag access door!!
Don't worry. I found out this tidbit late in my plan as well, and just was able to make due until I located an m880 hump from a surplus man. The main problem is getting a Flat surface that's tall enough to bolt the shift boot down, etc. Auto 727 to GETRAG 5sp swap rocks!!! you're going to love it. The best mod EVAR.

Hey thanks for the advice. I knew that someone had done it and would chime in. Did you just cut the shift tower hole a little large or what? Also, what kinda mileage to you see just cruising with the getrag and 3.07s?
