What a difference

Well...if some have followed my rants so far:

I started with a bone stock truck. See sig.

I just did this today and I can feel the difference! Hopefully gauges will be soon so I can start to tweek the pump. I can tell how addicting this can be! My truck doesn't feel all plugged up now.

That's a beautiful sound, isn't it? It was 77 and sunny here today, I had all the windows open and I was doing this all the way home from work.

It really is! I was actually shocked by how mellow it is (although, I've yet to put it under some real load yet!) and I just fell in love with the truck.

1. How much louder / different is the sound?
2. Is that legal?
3. Will it make it harder to get an inspection sticker? (in Texas)

It's honestly not much louder than stock (I've been told under a heavy load it will buzz pretty good) as for being legal, check your local noise ordinance laws. Don't know about a sticker, I'm in Oregon.

As for how different...it sounds like a big tractor now. Very deep.

If you think that's fun, wait till you start tweaking the pump. Can you feel yourself sliding down the slippery slope yet? I havent done much to my truck lately and it still makes me smile every time I drive it.

I can't resist jamming on it under every underpass! Sometimes I roll down the windows even when it's freezing (with the heater all the way up) just to get a fix!

Yes I can. It sorta sucks cause I promised myself I would stop when I hit transmission breaking levels. I can honestly say, now I can't wait to start with that pump and look out. I'm thinking I'm addicted. On the good side, my wife wants me to buy a newer Dodge in a few years for more room. So, I guess this can be a "play truck" down the road!

BHAF....what's that??? And does the truck GO any better?? Or does it just sound like it?? For me, that'd have to be a 2 part deal. More/better sound = good. More/better sound + More GO = O.K. I'll do it!! Chuck

Actually, it does go alot better. My turbo spools up faster, the rig actually doesn't feel choked off and I can feel it defuel now. Time for a 3k spring.

BHAF (Huge air filter) with a old smokey mount. Like a cheap cold air intake.

i know the feeling, when i had a tranny in my truck it sounds like a tractor cuz of the fact the enigine is out of a Case IH. i love cold starts when others are around in rocks the whole truck and people just look. when i pulled it for the first and probably the last time i was told it sounded like a semi. and it only has 3" straight pipe. and thankfully emissions laws havent gotten to Iowa just yet
