Difference in steering stabilizers for 94-97 vs. 98-02?

I ordered the skyjacker dual steering stabilizer kit (#7218) and afterwards noticed that it's for a 98-02 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel 4wd. The part number for 94-97 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel 4wd is #4217. Both kits are the same price. The only difference between the kits is that the dual stabilizers are in PARALLEL for 94-97 Rams, and INLINE for 98-02 Rams.

Why the difference??
Which is better?
Would either one work, or is there a difference between the years?
