Diff fluid change

Well I did my 15,000 mile diff fluid change and I must say that the rear is justifiable but the front fluid looked as good and clear as the fluid I put back in. I think doing your front fluid every 15,000 is a waist of time and money. I do use four wheel drive driving in the snow but don’t need it much in the dirt. I will extend my front changes to 30,000 or 45,000 mile intervals but will continue the doing the rear at 15,000.

What I dont understand is:

If there is no combustion of fossil fuels, why is it turning dark?

The engine oil in the hydro units in my garden tractor never get dark, even after 1000 hours of service it is still honey colored.
