Diff Cover Drains

Diff Cover Drains
Has anyone drilled and tapped the stock diff covers to make service easier? Are they thick enough to get a couple of threads in, if not could a guy weld in a 1/4" NPT weldlet without warping the cover?

Don't recall the site....PML (sp?) looks like a good cover w/ drain & fill plugs.
I prefer the Mag-Hytec covers. All O-ring seals, even the mounting face. Drain plug, sight (level plug), fill plug/dipstick, and even a port for an 1/8" temp sending unit.
Not a salesman....just a satified customer. Have one on my F150 and on the Dak. Maintenance couldn't be easier.

you can get drain plugs that are 2 piece, drill a hole and one piece threads into the other from both sides of the cover, sort of like a compression fitting, got mine for a blazer from napa, they were B & M

The B&M drain plug sounds like a great idea....as long as it does not interfere with the ring gear...I don't have posi so I am going to give it a try...I'll let you know.
