is it just me or does anyone else miss the smell of the diesel fumes from the newer trucks when they idle? (standing outside of course)

I was having this thought about my new 2006. It smells like crap. Kinda like a gasoline engine. Even a heavy dose of biodiesel doesn't change the smell at all and doesn't have that pleasant cooking odor.

Its funny, I have people asking me all the time what kind of diesel fuel I burn in my truck, or they ask if I am burning propane LOL

I miss it too. I just put my Bushwaker flares on and had to take off the Cummins badge. So on my way to work I pulled up beside a loud noisy 12v rattling away at the light. I had to turn my radio up. He must have looked over at me without any badges and thought I had the 4.7. I felt a tear coming. I miss my old LOUD 12v

I guess the trucks with cats don't smell like diesel? My 03 has the same exhaust smell as my brother's 02. But if it didn't, I wouldn't miss it.

Well put, ne14jpn! if you want to smell some really good exhaust fumes hang around the airport, that jet exhaust is awesome! Almost as good as my truck in the morning.

Truth be told, that is the main reason why I have become a permanent member of the "feline testing association", totally sick!
