Diesel mod ?s

I am considering buying a new CTD HO (either 2500 or 3500) and want to know what sort of cheap mods you would consider doing. I know to install a boost and pyrometer before I get started on hot rodding it but doesn't hurt to ask ahead of time.

Thanks,
daren

Re:Diesel mod ?s

daren,
First, welcome aboard! You will find a lot of good advice and diverse opinions in this forum.
Now to your question, . . . it depends. Some members think a replacement airfilter is expensive and 260 rwhp is more than enough while others think twin turbos and oversized injectors are cheap and 500 rwhp is way too little. A middle ground might be a 70+ hp fueling box at about $500.
You really need to decide how bad the Bomb bug has bit you and how big your bank account is. In any case, you won't be sorry if you decide to go with the CTD. Good luck!

Re:Diesel mod ?s

I have read this term "bombed" before and wondered what exactly this was refering to. What advantages can be done by removing the cat?

As far as the bank account goes, I am trying to do this on the cheap and unnoticable side. I don't think wife wants me spending any extra $$ on it. She already said "NO" when I mentioned a lift kit. ;D

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Re:Diesel mod ?s

bomb stands for 'Better Off Modified Baby'.

I don't think the 3rd gens have a cat except in CA (?)

stealth power mod might include a mile fueling box (under the hood). I dunno about doing this w/o gauges though, since there's not enough body of knowledge on the subject as of yet.

the factory air box is marginal at best, so pretty much anything you do in the power department will require another air system.
