Diesel Kleen storage ideas and caution

WARNING - Power Service Diesel Kleen will eat some plastics

I figured I would need to fill up on the road so I put some Diesel Kleen in a 16 ounce pour top plastic container I happened to grab at Wally World at the same time I bought the latest jug of Diesel Kleen. What I really wanted was a glass chem lab-type of container but all I could find at the time was plastic. Well, after several days in the tray behind the seat in my truck I started getting an aroma that I could not place.

It hit me this morning (literally) that what I was smelling was Diesel Kleen and not what I had originally assumed was some leakage from a can of PVC cleaner I had hauled recently. Upon getting to work I pulled the slightly soft plastic container from behind the seat and found a place for it in the bed. The plastic is soft but hasn't started leaking yet. Even though the bulk jug is plastic I can only assume that the container I put it in is not the same material, something I will check when I get back to the shop.

Now maybe I won't get another headache this afternoon like I have now.

I am going to source some 12-16 ounce chemical dispensing containers to use for this function. If anybody has any suggestions on the best containers and where to obtain them please post them. I have several chem supply catalogs here at work that I will look through but I assume somebody has already been there/done that for fuel additive storage.

As far as disposing of the current bottle I reckon the tractor will get it because I sure ain't putting it in my truck.

Yeah, it's too bad that they don't put a cap on the jugs that doesn't leak after you take the seal off.

Yeah, I found that out when I poured some into a styrene measuring cup. I was left holding the handle...... :

Boots stunk for quite a while . Now I just carry around a buch of paper funnels and eyeball the quanity.

I am using the 8oz bottles that the sewage tank order killer comes in. 6 bottles to the pack after use. I have not noticed any bad side effect with the Diesel Kleen in the bottles to date. Filled them before I left Galveston. Use one bottle each fill up. I have one, set aside to see if it is going to mess the bottle up. No problem other than want appears to be a little
sucking in on the sides. Caps are tight as well.

Dave
