When did the common rail start
I know the common rail started in 2003. Was this a spit year or was all 2003 models a common rail. THanks for you input.

Does anyone remember the first month they saw a new gen dodge? i can't remember now. i thought they looked funny and seemed too quiet. but i like them now
I remember the 1st 24V truck i saw though. it was at a spring fair trade show thats always held the end of march. id heard of them, but my necked kinda jerked when i noticed the new writing under the 'ram 3500" (it was a white duelly ) so i take it that when people say '98.5' that means the first half were made 12 valve? since obviously they were out the 1st 1/4 of the year.
also ive always wondered if they went to the black valve colver with the HO Cummins? i always thought they looked better red. and is it just me or are they earlier 24Vs quieter? seems like the newest one really have a sharp engine crackle. or do they get quieter over time?
Seems like most vehicles are made in the last 3 months of the year before(our 3 trucks are) do they make as many in the new year?

Isuzu 4JX1 4 cyl. diesel. 1998 model year if I remember correctly. Holden/Isuzu used it a lot in Australia and as you may be aware Holden and GM are tight. I remember going to GM/Isuzu school in Tarrytown NY when the 4HE1 came out and it was cutting edge technology.

Bosch started development in the mid 1990's, and first released it in 1997. First production application was that 4JX1 4 cylinder Isuzu.
The early prototype duramax's (8GF1 is the Isuzu in-house designation for the dmax) were first built in late 1997/early 1998, so it was natural for Isuzu to chose high pressure common rail as the injection system of choice on the duramax.
