how do you get the factory plastic badges easily

If you want to remove them, heat them up with blow drier or heat gun and run a heavy gauge fishing line behind them. Then clean up with some goo gone or similar. Good luck!

You don't need the heat gun. Just use the fishing line and the 3M eraser wheel. I tried the heat gun and it just left more goo on the truck.

The 3M wheel is the only way to go. I saw it on here & went and bought one. SOOOOOO easy with the wheel. I got my wheel at carquest auto parts. The NAPA store didn't carry it where I am in Houston.

Be prepared to choke on the price of the eraser wheel. I paid $35 at Carquest and about fell over. But it works great. Now i'm ready to debadge everything. Now only problem is my wife is about to debadge me . So I better leave her car alone for now.

Not getting paid for advertising. Easier to clean and wax. Personal preference.
I thought the tailgate looked terrible with all the chrome lettering on it.

I agree with everyone above ERASER WHEEL!!! that thing is amazing. I debadged my old 03 hemi and it took about 5 hours picking and rubbing the black tape into submission. I used fishing line then the eraser wheel then some 3m adhesive remover to clean it up followed by a coat of wax. finished the whole truck in about 45 min. I also paid $35 for the wheel but it was money well spent. I wish DC would take the money they spend on all those badges and put it into something that the truck could actually use. I just don't like the look of all those badges cluttering up the doors and tailgate.

IMO, it is to make your truck "Stand Out" from the crowd without screaming "Look at Me". It is just a personal preference and some think it gives the truck a clean, classy look. Easier to wash and wax too.

to me, easier to clean was a big deal. That and the chrome just did not fit when i put on the buckstop front bumper.
I do like the clean look, smoooooth.

I use a fiber stick. It was supplied by my employer. I have looked all over the place for one on the internet and can't find anything! These things are really cool. They are made of, I think, nylon so they don't scratch the paint. You just push the stick under the badging from whatever side you can. Say from the right and then push hard to the left, not in towards the paint, and the badge just pops of. It usually doesn't leave any adhesive behind. If I can find some, I'll post here and let you all know where to get them.

I love to. But they stopped the tours a few years back. too scared if you know what I mean. I guess they are afraid of a law suit. I've been working for them for a little over 10 years and I still catch myself walking through the plant saying to myself "This is cool!".

I pulled my badges off today. If not for the '07 style "heavy duty 2500" badges being a little stubborn it would've only taken an hour to do the whole truck. I used fishing line to slice behind them and cleaned off the remaining adhesive with elbow grease and mineral spirits. There are some minor swirl marks in the paint though where I rubbed the adhesive off. Can anyone recommend a good way to get those out of there?

I used the fishing line and some 3m adhessive remover from walmart. The fishing line leaves a lot of adhesive on the truck, then spray the remover on it, let set for a few minutes, then spray again, repeat a few times, the it just wipes right off. The first side I tried to wipe too soon and it worked me to death. The other side and tailgate I just kept spraying and waiting and it wiped right off.

Just did it today. Took me 2 hours but it was my first time. I did the fishing line and 3m adhesive remover from Walmart. I also had a plastic putty knife and used it as well. It was slow going, I left the CTD one as I like it.
I went to Napa and took a look at that eraser wheel and thought it might eat through my paint. I'm sure you guys didn't have a problem, but I didn't want to mess around with it. I really like how it turned out.

I like it and also retained the "C" on mine.
I removed those gawd awful door emblems from my 2007 - I used a flat blade screwdriver and literally pried them off! Actually it worked pretty well - I never let the tool touch the paint and just got it under the edge of the emblem and pulled. The R A M letters broke apart and came off separately, but the big lower plate popped off in one piece. It left most of the adhesive tape intact, and that made it pretty easy to just roll the tape off with my fingers. I had the eraser wheel all ready to go but I didn't need it. There was just a slight amount of adhesive residue left which I removed with rubbing alcohol.

Got mine done today. Used the eraser wheel from Napa on my drill and worked great. Started with a nylon putty knife and Goo gone but the eraser wheel worked awesome. Used fishing line and then the wheel ripped it right off with no marks. A little Megiuers cleaner/polish and all done. Took about an hour total. Left the Cummins "C" as I like it.

I had the bumper before the truck, so I put that on. Then I did the stainless nerf boards thinking that would be the end. Then, what about someone flinging a door into the side of the truck - found a set of Laramie mouldings for cheap, but didn't like DC's lower placement, so I located them higher. Then started thinkin' about rock chips from the gravel roads to the farm, so stainless rocker panels went on and inserts for the wheel wells. Then the black door handles looked out of place, so those were taken care of. Of course, regular ventvisors would have been wrong, so chrome we went. Then, after over a month away at work, I came home, looked, and the funky '07 red tail lights stuck out like a sore thumb, so my parts guy set me up with covers for them. The front door badges and the non-symetrical tailgate badges needed to go. And now we're here.
That is the exterrior transformation story. Now, I'm content that the solid Khaki color is now accented perfectly. Kind of like power mods - can't stop until the right combination is achieved. Other than that explanation, I have no idea why I did it. Maybe it's because the ladies like shiny things.[tapdshut] :o [laugh]
It's shiny in the pics here, but rest assured it'll be covered in mud towing the gear out to our area for spring black bear hunting shortly and big game in the fall.
Ahh! I can't take it with me when I die.....might as well spend it now.[coffee]

I debadged mine last week. I couldn't find an eraser wheel anywhere around here, so after the fishing line, I used my son's playdough plastic knife, then some Goo Gone. I went to an auto paint store after and was told rubbing alcohol would get the rest of the glue off. Truck looks much better, even the Mrs. thinks so.
Since my truck's two years old, I have the shadows, i.e. you can see where the 2500 and tailgate badges were when the light hits the patriot blue paint. Will rubbing compound get rid of this, or if not, what will? Thanks!

My truck was one year old when I debadged it, and I also could see where the badges were. I just used plain old car wax and was good to go.

I did some more searching after posting that and read alot of members using that. I stopped at an auto paint store this afternoon, and told them about that and the scuff marks I have on my tailgate and they recommended No. 7 Polishing Compound. I have to go easy with it, but it should take care of everything.
Anyone else use No. 7 Polishing Compound before? 3rd one down here: http://www.cyclo.com/no_7.asp

I did mine yesterday with a plastic putty knife and the 3M eraser/pinstripe removal wheel. All told about an hour and a quarter to do it all. I left on the Cummins emblems and the ram's head on the tailgate. Looks like a whole different truck!

I debadged my truck about 5 months ago. I used the fishing line trick to remove it, one I got the emblems off I got a hair dryer to get the gummy tape off. I also used a putty knife which was a big no no for me, it came off super easy but it left some swirl marks after all was said and done. I like my "Dodge" & "4x4" on the tailgate, I think it looks decent but I might put the "C's" back on, im still undecided about that though.
