Dealer wants to order this package, I have ?????

Going to order a new truck and the dealer faxed me this build spec sheet but I'am not sure about a couple of things and he will not be back until monday.

O.K. the truck is a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT / TRX4 OFF ROAD / Sport (140.5 in WB 6.3 ft box) Model D18H41

Is this a combination of SLT, TRX4, and Sport?
Could someone explain it to me?
I have searched google, Yahoo, msn, and dodge websites trying to find a picture to see if I like the looks of this package but could find nothing so I'am turning to you guys, can someone help me find what this truck is suppose to look like?

The truck I want to order is a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT, QC, Cummins, G56, 4wd, SRW, shortbox.

Also I will be towing the camper in my signature, how will the 3500 SRW handle it.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't help you with the combo packages question.

I would think pulling wise the new truck will pull it fine. All of the Cummins powered trucks are rated the same for GCVWR which is 21,000lbs for 3.73 gears and 23,000lbs for 4.10 gears. But, you may be pushing the limits of the 9900lb. GVWR on the SRW with your 5th wheel. The limiting factor will be the tires, not the truck as the spring pack is the same between the SRW and dually. Do you know what the pin weight is on your 5ver? I believe the GVWR on your current dually is 12,200lbs which gives you alot more room to play with pin weight.

I doubt you will have any trouble pulling it at all, even if you did go over the
legal GVWR a little.

Why do you want to trade so soon? Your truck is just over a year old, right? Why not just keep the dually?

Another possible negative factor to trading for the short bed would be a rougher ride. I vote to keep your 05 dually. If you decide to get an 06 I think you will be fine with either SRW or dually, but probably a little overweight with 5ver pin weight on the rear.

I know what your saying about trading in a truck that is almost new, I have questioned myself many times. I Guess the reason I started looking was that the convenience of parking a shorter truck will be welcomed. I wouldn't have to worry about the truck being so wide while parking and people brushing up against it squizing between the vehicles. My garage is only 24' wide so the shortening of 1' 6" would be welcomed there also. I was hoping to maybe get a little better fuel mileage by removing two tires from the rear. The truck would be more aerodynamic without the dually fenders. I will have to buy 2 less tires the next time it comes to replacing them. The G56 shifts so much nicer than the NV5600.

I know the reasons are trivial and by all means I would be just about as happy just keeping what I have.

I want to thank you for your honest response and unbiased response. I posted this same original post on the TDR and so far all I've got is personal opinion and sarcaziam and you have to pay to be on the website.

I have never heard of TRX4 OFF ROAD sounds like a Ford package

I would ask for the "real" invoice sheet which will list every option by price?

Yah I'll be doing that. I just want to be prepared as much as possible when I do go. I have been dealing on a new truck for three weeks, I set a price for them to reach and now with new incentives they are within $200. I guess I have some big decisions to make in the next few days.

I do prefer DTR over the other site you posted at also. The site is more organized, and the members here typically offer productive responses.

I tried to answer some of your questions on TDR. I think your salesman is combining packages to get you the options you are wanting. TRX is offroad package, sport is appearance package, SLT being the mid level truck group.

By the way, if you aren't already aware, DTR accepts donations to keep running and make upgrades when necessary

Thanks! I hope my opinion could be of some help in your decision making process. I agree the reasons are trivial, but hey.......it's your money. If you can afford to take the hit on a year old truck and it isn't exactly what you want.....then I understand. I am a member on TDR by the same name, but I admit I don't get on there very often. I can't keep up with reading all the posts on here! And, I donated to DTR too.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I'am really having a hard time deciding if I should trade or not. My truck has a 7/70,000 drivtrain and 7/100,000 engine warranty compared to the new 3/36,000 and 5/100,000 mile warranty.

My truck doesn't seem to have any problems except the injection pump which is being replaced Monday. Never know what you get when you buy new and worse yet ordering one.

My truck will be more stable in towing the loads I tow.

My truck is getting 18 MPG at 65 MPH and 22 MPG at 55 MPH none towing. It will only be a guess on the new truck until I actually get to drive it. My 99 was a fuel pig, makes me scared to buy another new one now that I have a truck that gets good milage.

The dealer will take $4,000 to boot which is lower than even the volume dealer around here can do but I don't like the idea of costing me $4,000 to drive my 05 for one year.

Looks like I'am trying to make excuses to keep my truck, I think maybe I should. Man I hate doing this to myself. It would be nice if money wasn't a big deal to me like some of the guys I read about on thes websites but it is and that is what makes the decision so difficult.

Thanks Again, Ron

I'd say with the trailer weight/size you are in dual rear wheel territory. I believe that would give you a much more stable pull. Have you shopped and compared?

I used to work here in back in the old country and they sold the he77 out of trucks.

That's the place I bought my 05 from and that's the place I'am referring to as the volume dealer in my previous post. They wanted $6,500 to boot before the april incentives came out and the place I'am dealing with now was at $5,400. The place I'am dealing at now knows all about aberdeen chrysler and is trying to get me to buy with them instead at 4,200 to boot. I will try aberdeen again just to see where we stand.
